I went to a karaoke show last night and noticed something different in the KJ's system. First of all, the KJ was originally a part of a multi-rig system before he went out on his own, as I noticed that quite alot of multi-riggers are doing and going under different names. His screen still has the old name but he is advertising under his new name. I asked to sing a song. While looking at his system, I noticed that there were "changes" made which appeared that he was trying to cover his behind. He didn't have certain versions listed but had a different way of knowing which version was what, even though he told me he didn't know which version he had. My first thought was that the original starter of the multi-rigger got popped and spread it around to all his buddys. The versions still show up on the screen but not in his system. hmmmmm. All I can say is that it didn't take me long to figure out what he did.

Sounds like a guy split off of a multi rig company to start his own, changed the books - maybe deleting duplicates to make the book smaller & wants us all to know about it? Not really sure either.

Ya'll are smart. You all that have all your stuff on your computers should be able to figure it out and what kind of changes he made in his system. Yes his books are smaller but that's not my point. Re-read what I said.

Yep still not sure your point? He started a new company using the same library you suspect, changed the books to make them smaller by either taking out duplicate versions (lots of people do that) or some other reason. Another pirate, ok? Not much you can do about it.

In his system, he did something to cover his backside which didn't take me long to figure out. The manufacturer is on the screen but he did something different in his computer to where only he will be able to figure out who the manufacturer is even though he told me that he didn't know who the manufacturer is. Not very smart in my book if I figured it out.

He may have renumbered the collection differently - maybe to a basic number system rather than a disc based number system. Many computer users are moving to that system & he'll just pick the version himself. I know several companies that eliminate the numbers altogether & you just write the songtitle.
The manufacturer is going to be on the screen - it's part of the music file. And if he renumbered in such a way, he very well might not know which manu is which anymore, depending on how he did the files.

My understanding of computer karaoke is that entering the disc number is not necessary, just the title or partial thereof.

That explains why he wouldn't be able to figure out which manu is which.

Depends on the software I believe. Most will accept a title search, some have to go through a separate window like a drag/drop, others you can just type in the number & add.

What software is he running? There is one software that either needs a funky way of naming the files or they have to use the Artist - Title format in naming the files to get the fields correct.
