In another thread I saw that Lonman was running 2500 watts of power. I have no reason to doubt that but as my somewhat warped brain tends to run in odd directions I did the math and yep... 21 amps and change. So, my question is even with the best switching power supplies why isn't he blowing breakers? 30 amp circuit? Never reaching peak draw? |

I am on 3 dedicated circuits. 1 for the processors/computers/players, the other 2 for amps with 25 amp breakers. |

I suspect you are using "Max" figures and most quality amplifiers that are sized properly never come close to having to be pushed that hard. I run 4,800 watts on my frontals and another 2600 watts on monitors on a average night and have never had any problems. Even my LS800P's pushing 1500 watts each will only draw 8 amp full out ( I'd guess less than 4 amps to achieve normal output) and needless to say I have never come close to having to run them full out. My tops only draw 3.6 amps to achieve their 900 watt capability. I generally use two separate circuits to be on the safe side but just to see what I could get away with I hooked all four speakers (23.2 amps per spec) into one 15 amp circuit and pushed them to about 2/3 volume without any problems. So with one LS800P and one U15P per side I only need just under 12 amps to feed each stack safely. |
