Hey I have been destroying my brain trying to figure out what to do for optimal sound and set-up. I do an Elvis show which is basically me singing with Karaoke cd-g's right now. I need my own set-up for more gigs like nursing homes parties weddings etc. Question: should I buy a PA with a mixer and simply play my tracks through it via I-pod or cd player? Should I buy an all in one karaoke player ? OR a P.A. with Karaoke player ? I have about $600. what is the benefit of a karaoke player vs. PA with something to play backing tracks I don't need lyrics displayed since I only do Elvis songs and only I sing. Any help on what set-ups are the best what wireless mic's etc. I will be eternally grateful. I apologize if I am not up on the latest terminology I am new to the game. |

A small PA system would be more than adequate & give a better sound quality than an all in one system. |

I'd suggest you try out a Fender Passport system with a cd player attached. The onboard mixer does have effects and you really can't beat it for portability. It's not the fanciest in town, but it's quite usable and we're talking gigs where you really aren't going to be running real loud anyway. Thank you, I have been looking at the passport as a possible choice. Is there any benefit to using a Karaoke player/ with wireless mic system and then running that through the P.A. ? |

I thank you I was leaning towards the PA but didn't want to miss something important. would there be any advantage to using a karaoke players effects and running vocals through that then through the PA. and if so could you recommend a karaoke player for this? Thanks again |

None that I can think of. Since you don't need lyrics, you don't need a karaoke player either, you could rip the tracks to ipod or other mp3 player if you like and not have to worry about scratching a disc or suddenly not having a player or disc work at a gig. use a wireless remote mp3 player (like magicians use) and you wouldn't have to go back to your system between every song either. |

Is there any benefit to using a Karaoke player/ with wireless mic system and then running that through the P.A. ? I doubt it. If you are performing, you want to sound your best. The kind of player/wireless mic system that meets your price range is going to be of poor quality. |
