Well, My tax check came back JUST in the nick of time. Monday I went up to Guitar Center and rebuilt my system from the ground up.

I got two of the EON 315, the Yamaha MG166CX and Two Shure wireless SM58s.

The St Patty's day party at the Seahorse Inn was Tuesday, so I ended up busting my butt to get the system together for Monday night's show at Hops. Well, mission accomplished with only minutes to spare before I had to pack it all up and head out to the bar.

Things went pretty smoothly considering the amount of "play time" I had with the new stuff before I was actually using it in a show.

Next, was the Seahorse. Man, what a day! I got there at 11am to set up. I was getting paid from 3 to 1pm, but I knew this was going to be complex as there was a tent outside... and then the bar owner asks, "can you put a speaker downstairs too?"

"Sure!"

I ended up using the amp and speakers from my old system, jacked into the board through the monitor channel. Not real happy with that set up, but that's what seemed to work. I then setup a third powered speaker as a vocal monitor through the headphone jack... not the best solution, and if anyone has an idea of where I jack in for a third speaker I'd love to know. The manual for this thing sucks!

Technical issues aside, it all worked and sounded great. Whew!

This was a DJ/ KJ event. I played the traditional Irish stuff mixed with some soft rock till after dinner, then about 7 I kicked it up a noch with "Whiskey in a Jar" by Metallica... heh.

From there on, it was serious party. This bar has two levels, a deck, and a "shore area" with picnic tables, plus they set up a tent in the parking lot too!! It was wall to wall people all evening! We sang karaoke, danced and had a great time... till 1am.

I have to say, that was the hardest I've worked at a gig ever. Good thing I had that big plate of corned beef a cabage before the show, cause I didn't eat till I got home!

The owners were much pleased, thanking me, and telling me what a great job I did (oh, and I was paid WELL! Ha!  )

Man, talk about a trial by fire! What an incredible day. :D

Hello Koyote!

Sounds like a tricky situation. I know the more expensive Eon 515's have a mini-mixer on board and pass-throughs that the 315's lack. You might have been able to daisy chain a third powered speaker to the other location if you had the 515's.

By the way, I am interested in these new "generation 3" Eons. How do they compare in your opinion to Eon 15 G2s? at only 32lbs (and only 17lbs for the powered 10" 510s), they must certainly be easy to move around.

Badda bing! Actually, the 315's do have a pass through!! Good job!

The only thing the 315's don't have is the onboard EQ/mixer and they are less wattage. They do have a Boost/ Level/ Cut switch however.

They are a complete joy to listen to and work with. They are as good as if not better then the venerable G2s, and I go to several shows around here that use them...

Not only are they light weight, they are designed intelligently. There is a handle on the top as well as handles on the sides. There is a locking nut in the speaker stand hole as well. Lifting these onto the stands is super easy.

The sound really spreads around evenly too. Several comments were made about how they could be heard at a comfortable level all over the bar.

Well, Michael, I'm happy to report that that was exactly the solution. Running that 3rd speaker from the pass through worked beautifully. Thanks!

At my Wednesday night gig the speaker placement is goofy. The mains are to the front of the performance area, so a monitor speaker is a must.

Glad it worked out. Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best.
