Only 1 of the 3 venues I've played so far gave me the freedom to set up my gear in the manner I wanted. I'd like to hear what other KJs think the ideal set up is. Of course I know, it depends on some factors but let's say it is a small bar but you have room to set up your gear (only 2 mains, 1 or 2 subs if you want, monitors if you want) the way you want. Just in case someone asks, the room is 25' wide and 50 or 60' long.
As I think thru the criteria, I guess it's for best sound, easiest for people to come up to me without worrying about tripping or running into equipment, easiest for me to get in and out while the singer is singing and singers to face the audience but be close enough to me to tell me if they need any adjustments. Game? Did I miss anything? Did you guys know yesterday was my 50th birthday? Had to slip that in there!
Ok, I've never found much on this so I'm going to say I want my PAs about 10 to 12 feet apart, (one pole mounted over my sub) with my singer's monitor about 3 feet behind the speakers but centered. My station can be off to the left side behind the PA and just behind the singer 3 foot or so but off to their left a bit so the attention is on the singer and not me or my station. This will allow me to have slips brought to me from the right side of the singer behind them. The only cords I have to worry about would be from the PAs, sub and monitor.
What say ye?

I would probably set up 2 mains up front & then add a 3rd speaker halfway toward the back somewhere or in the back - if possible. This way you will get good coverage without having to crank the mains up to compensate for the back.

Speaker placement should vary based on the room. In this case you are going to want to be about 8 feet from the 60' wall on the short wall, pointing down the length of the room, pointed slightly in. Then be about 12' down the length. You don't want to be equidistant to the two walls if you can help it, which is what people do left to their own devices.
Pointing is going to vary based on the other parts of the room. I find it is sometimes nice to point away from at least one part of the bar and one cluster of tables, if this is possible, to provide a haven from the loudest highs.
Here's a nice discussion that might be a bit difficult to follow, but gives a lot of info including the formula I used to suggest the 8' and 12' distances from your walls:

This is our room which is about the same maybe a bit larger. Due to the office on the right I run another G2 in the opposite corner sometimes without the singer monitor. It works very well and fills the room. I also use another speaker in the bar area and feed it with AUX1. The table on the lower right is our station and there are tables behind us.
