I hate hearing about suicides, they truly depress me and can't imagine the pain or frustration the person must have gone through. My condolences for the loss of your friend and karaoke customer. Condolences also to his BF who must be really going through extreme grief.

That's got to be hard on the son. A 12 year old child....wow! I can't imagine the sorrow and pain the son must be going through.

Poor soul - any reason as to why he chose to end his life?

I hate suicide, but I empathise with those who feel it's their only way out (for themselves and to protect others). My uncle chose this route, and I 100% understand his choices (terminal illness that would have lead to him perceiving himself as a burden on the family).

you know, I always said that if I was diagnosed that way I'd just rent a boat and go OUT on the ocean... nobody would probably ever find me!

It's still suicide, but I would HONESTLY try to swim back. If God wanted me to live, I'd make it.

Most probably I'd drown or be some shark's other white meat dinner! Suicide still, but at least the family is spared the majority of whatever my burdon would be.

Must be an epidemic - one of the locals here, great guy, knew everybody, was found by his 18 year old daughter, having hung himself. I feel badly for the daughter - her life will NEVER be the same now.

My daughter worked with another nurse who ended her life a couple of mos ago by jumping off a very high bridge into the water and was washed out to sea in minutes....no indication why. Just stopped her car in the parking lot, left the door open, everything in it, ran out to the bridge deck and jumped -just that fast.

In the case of debilitating, terminal illness, I can understand the desire to end it, like Nlouch said when a person wouldn't want to become a burden on the family; however, I think serious discussion should occur with the proposed 'burden bearers' before such steps are taken. As far as a healthy young to middle aged person doing that, mental illness has to be a consideration.

Then of course the survivors share a feeling of guilt for not having identified that this person had some sort of need that perhaps they could have filled. Most of us fight so hard to survive....

As a vet I have been in many group therapy sessions both as patient and councelor. This society puts the maximum amount of stress upon everybody starting in kindergarten. It is easy to see why many become numb to life and cash out but it does hurt those that really care and tried to help. It is a wakeup call to follow the golden rule no matter what your beliefs are. It is really sad when they have a compulsion to go on a shooting rage to end it all. This is a refection of the greed and corruption we face now. I would love to go back 60 years ago. My payers are with those that suffer needlessly. The day will come when those causing the suffering will suffer threefold.
