Preamp with a scratch and pop filter. Then procs such as BBE and Aphex to inject highs and lows. Its been a long time since I did this but have mp3's from 33/1/3 albums. |

What do I need to convert some old records to cds ? A turntable, phono pre-amp and a line in on your audio card You can than use Audacity or Kristal to capture in wave, both are FREE! Now keep in mind that the better the turntable and pre-amp, the better it will sound once converted to digital |

Or if you do not already have a turntable & separate preamp for the turntable, http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/pr ... sku=801258 Got this one for my Dad & he just uses Audacity and/or Krystal to record the albums. Finished results sound great. |

I use a Behringer UCA202 interface, which comes with a separate pre-amp in the box ( A Micro PP400). RCA plugs in, USB out. There's a headphone jack with volume control on the interface, and a 1/4" mono out on the pre-amp. No special software is needed, but it does come free with the unit if you want it. If you are copying older LPs, you will probably want some correction or editing software for sound cleanup. |
