Talk about how to use Karaoke to serve for us and bring more happy to us. But few of people can think of sing a song in the wedding. The song could be the best love express for each other, which can do the music can not do. |

Wow, thanks for this list Eric! I do have little experience when it comes to weddings, only did a few in my time. And I still catch up on good wedding songs! Copied, Pasted & Saved! ![]() |

TOO EASY....good list Eric! Most of those songs popped in my head from memory. I DO NOT miss doing weddings anymore. They were my MOST stressful gigs! |

During the consult I get an idea of their preference of genre (usually from the bride and her mom). HINT: Her mom is the boss during the reception. I get a list for each song (bride groom dance etc). I get an idea if they want formality or just relaxed DJ & or karaoke. They browse my mp3 library and request songs I do not have. I let them know we take requests during the reception. It helps immensely if you have a WIFI hotspot to download songs. After the first dance I sing and dedicate a song to the newly weds. Most popular ever was George Jones The Right Left Hand. The bride hugged me and bugged me until I danced with her. For the wedding itself I prefer a cd that they have burned with requested tracks in sequence. Here is a good list. wedding top list |

After the consult I create the playlist in its entirety, including ceremony songs if they wish, and any other music pertaining to the ceremony itself. All of this is ripped to computer and I have two computers at my disposal to do quick changes without any interruption in the music. Thank Gawd for laptops - DJing is SO easy compared to what it used to be...discs everywhere! I always burned CDs before laptop, according to genre and could quickly and easily manipulate the music. So important not to have interruptions. Nice to have these lists, though - because sometimes the B&G have NO idea about what tune or other they want... I also have lists but there are songs in the above lists that will really complement what I already have. Thanks again, guys. |

I hate karaoke at weddings. Everytime i've seen it it takes much attention off of the reason why people are there in the first place & often turns into a childrens sing a long because Grandma & Grandpa want to hear little 5 year old Kathy sing, and then the other children want to sing and so on. When kids aren't present the adults can sometimes be worse. I will never do a karaoke show at a wedding, dj only. |

I dont cherish it either but a lot of my weddings are from karaoke customers. Usually I try to talk them into karaoke when all the ceremonies are done and the hangon partying guests are still there. |

I really try and dissuade people from having karaoke at weddings just for the reason that Lonman states above. Usually the hangers-on at the very end are pretty well inebriated if there has been ETOH served and that is no fun for anybody. I try and shooosh then along, by cab, to some nearby place if they just have to sing. |

Karen I read that and laughed. If you have ever been to a dutch polish or any wedding that is when the fun starts and might last until the wee hours of the morning. Run them off?????? This is the time when in-laws truly get acquainted and bond for life. Karaoke is just something that was added in the last few decades. The kids sing and families start singing and praying together. Music does that and instead of a band they need to participate. Karaoke is a natural at wedding receptions when the BS and formailities are over. ![]() I think it's time us elders teach you yonguns' how to get hitched for life!! |

Now I'm laughing - I'm 54, karyoker, come from a Finnish family where accordion and dancing was a big part of the old-timey weddings...but I stand by what I say. There are too many ways that it can get old quickly. Maybe it's a regional thing but I've done a TON of weddings as an MC and DJ and most of them aren't the right platform for karaoke. But hey, I do ask every couple i talk to - most of them just laugh it off as a dumb suggestion. Maybe a hoedown yeehaw weddin' would have room for karaoke? Or a Redneck weddin'? I don't know, just haven't done many where it would work like you suggest it does at the ones you've done. |

Charm I do Brother Love Holly Holy Sooliman and a few others and do them very good without a southern accent but with New Jersey accent. Love it when I have a few gal backup singers with lots of EFX and energy. One song I do which I love is Morningside It means many things to me but puts the audience to sleep. |

Ollie, somehow I can't picture you with anything but a southern accent. Just recently I came across the song you did for me "Great Speckled Bird" on my pc... had to give it a couple more listens, I had forgotten I had it:) |

When kids aren't present the adults can sometimes be worse. I will never do a karaoke show at a wedding, dj only. We have ONLY ever sold it as an added service, in another room with it's own sound system and kj, APART from the actual ceremony, and charged an additional $350. The kids love it, some adults get into it, and everyone stays happy. GREAT UPSELL. |

Over the last 6 months - weddings have become a MAJOR part of my life. You do one or two, and your name gets passed around like candy. They are a piece of cake to do, and sometimes really enjoyable, sometimes not. I prefer to meet with the couple beforehand, and I consider them the boss, not the mother - it's their day and I go by their suggestions. I suggest not taking requests during the night, as you get the one random guy who wants to hear something obscure - and it's not "his night". But I basically do as asked. Since Christmas I have done about, hmmm... 15 weddings, maybe a little less, let's call it 12. Not one of them has wanted karaoke. I would do it if asked, but I don't see it as being a "wedding thing". It becomes ego, and ego shouldn't be at a wedding. Also I 100% agree with Lonman. I personally am planning my wedding at the moment. I am being forced to hire a DJ, because it would be wrong for me to do it myself. But that really doesn't sit well with me at all, I adore DJing - and am very VERY critical of it (others and myself). I will not enjoy someone else DJing for me ![]() |
