Got a new gig at a bar that has 12 TVs all wall fished with HDMI cables from Direc TV receivers to the TVs. I am looking to hook in to 2 of the bigger tvs to display the singers screen. I will need.... 1. composite/rf/s-video to HDMI converter to convert my signal to HDMI http://www.pacificcable.com/Picture_Pag ... ame=DigiWi 2. A Y-splitter to split the HDMI signal to 2 TVs http://www.startech.com/item/HDMISPL1HH ... Cable.aspx 3. Possibly 2 HDMI video switchs so I don't have to plug/unplug hdmi cables all the time. http://www.monoprice.com/products/produ ... &p_id=2786 Anyone think of anything ells I would need, or more importantly CHEAPER hardware???? This probably will be a permanent setup left at the bar, so I might try to get the bar owner to pay for the hardware. Or I guess a cheaper way would be to run a composite cable to the 2 tv's but that would be hard since they are about 12' off the floor, and no way to really hide the wires |

Don't these tvs also have RF connections? Most do! HDMI stuff is ubber expensive for adaptors for S-Video. http://www.svideo.com/hdmiconverter.html |

Karaoke graphics dont require hi def. I would put a composite video DA on top or behind the closest TV and route to others downline. Use the remotes to switch from HDMI to video1 or video2 whichever one you plug into the monitors.You will need a DA on the output of the laptop also. You can run up to 100' of RCA shielded wire but beyond that I would use RG49AU co-ax. I could make a very expensive project out of it but minimum shack stuff should work. Another option is wireless with the receiver feeding the DA at the tv. |

Those TVs most likely have composite video but like he said they're all mounted nice a neat with no access to those. Personally I don't know if I'd get the switch, if you're going to have to access a switch anyway, you might as well unplug and plug the cables in. One less potential failure point. |

It's not cheaper but I would actually suggest purchasing a new computer with a HDMI out it would make things very simple. |

Well, I am gonna talk to the bar owners and see if they want tot purchase the hardware to use their existing wiring and I will install it for them. If I have to pay, I will probably run a composite wire to the 2 TV that I want to hook into, since that would be the easiest and cheapest way to possibly hide the wires. Again if anyone knows of cheaper hardware to hook into the existing HDMI feeds let me know. Thanks all for the info. |
