A woman in Boulder has been arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty after she taped an 8-month-old puppy to her fridge following a row with her boyfriend.

Police were called to the domestic dispute, which apparently erupted when 20-year-old Abby Toll got angry with her boyfriend because he hadn't got rid of the puppy after it bit her and defecated in the apartment.

When an officer arrived at the scene in Boulder, Colorado, Toll told him: 'There's a dog taped to the fridge.'

She added: ' I know this looks bad. We were going to get rid of him anyway. We usually don't do this.'

The dog was bound with clear packing tape, a plastic bag and elastic hair ties. It was quickly freed, and has been placed with the local Humane Society for safekeeping.

Toll faces felony charges of animal cruelty and domestic violence, plus misdemeanor charges of criminal tampering and third-degree assault. Her boyfriend, 21-year-old Bryan Beck, also faces charges resulting to the domestic dispute.

She should have taped the B/F to the fridge, not the dog.
