looking for a light to go over my mixer ,now the queston is im using the A&H Zed 12fx and it dont have a BNC fitting ,but i see there are xlr lights ,do there connect into any xlr socket as there are plenty on the zed 12 ,well i know they would plug in but is there power there for it?
if this is not possible i think ill look at a rack unit to fit in the rack.

I'm using a Yamaha MG166CX mixer, and I use this:

I have it attached with "brissle velcro", which is a type of super velcro. It works great, and you don't have to worry about BNC or XLR connectors. This is very convienient as the electrical connector has a "break" in the middle. I leave the adaptor plugged in to my power supply and just plug and unplug from the middle connector.

So, set is quick and easy, and if something happens to it, its easy to replace.

I have my furman conditioner just over my mixer so I just use the pull out lights.

For my laptop, I have a light that was given to me that plugs into my usb and it will bend to whatever shape I want. Really comes in handy. Similar to this one.

if you run a computer you could use a usb led and a usb extension if you have a good place for it. my laptop sits above my powered mixer (on top of the mixer case) and i simply hang a usb light over the edge. I bought a bunch of usb lights at the dollar store, cant beat a buck. they are not great quality but who cares.

my power distribution unit has LED lights for the bottom of my rack, and my mixer has a BNC light for just to the right of my mixer to illuminate my discs. I use an American Audio GNL-19 rackmount dual light for the mixer and the left side where I keep my clipboard and staged disc. It is rack mounted.

My PDU also has a USB port where you can plug in a laptop type USB goosneck LED.

ok thanks there everyone ,not sure about using a usb light as already running alot on usb ,2 hard drives /mouse/PC to TV Convertor/the A&H mixer.
So think will go with the rack as morethan enough room in the 16u rack.

Just a thought but I have my interface, external hard drive, dongle and my gooseneck light running through usb. I bought and adaptor at walgreens for about 4 bucks that has 4 ports on it.

fyi those hubs will slow down your hard drives. i have run everything else off them , but plug hard drives direct.

Thanks for the advice supercharged did it because the 2 usbs on the lappy are on the other side from my hard drives but could run the cables around.

There are several different versions of USB that have different speeds. The common ones are USB 1.1, which is 12 Mbit/sec; and USB 2.0 at 480 Mbit/sec.

All those USB hubs and devices inter-operate with each-other, but if you buy a USB 1.1 hub and plug your USB 2.0 hard drive into it, the hard drive will revert to the 1.1 speed (which is better than just not working.) So as long as you buy USB 2.0 hubs, they are common and cheap, your hard drive will not be appreciably slower.

Of course, I have a really nice Dell 30" monitor at home and it has a USB hub on it, but it is a USB 1.1 hub ... so I still have to plug my camera, USB sticks, and portable hard drive into the USB jacks on the computer if I want them to be fast. :(
