Normally drunks don't bother me as it is part of the bussiness , but,
last night I had one girl sing about 10 times and only got the slip right once and thats because my wife helped her. Every time she got up it's "that's not the right song " I do have a rule that if you are too drunk to find your song in a book you are too drunk to sing . Maybe I should add if you can't find the right song you are too drunk to sing

My attitude is unfortunately dealing with drunks is just part of the job so you gotta accept it. Drunks are a lot like kids only they don't understand logic and reason. I go in with the attitude that I'm going to have to deal with people like that. I just look for ways to have fun with it. Yeah they can get annoying and frustrating but if you can find ways to tease them without making them mad or get them to do things that rile up the rest of the patrons, then it works out well. Of course the big key is no matter how mad or frustrated you get, don't let it show. That ultimately gets you into all sorts of problems that you don't want. I don't let the drunks walk all over me, but I do try to be as accomodating to them as I would anyone else. You just gotta find a way to accept that this is part of the gig and not let the fact that they're drunk get to you. Remember if you're in a bar, that's what people do in bars. They get drunk and act stupid.

Just smile, be polite and drive on. I expect the same thing from them if I get the song wrong. So long as they are not abusive then you're in pretty good shape. When they cross that line you're probably not the only one having to deal with it and get the establishment to set them right.

Let me add that since drunks are like children, you need to be the parent. Hold up the songslip, "you requested X?"... this is it... go. And let the song play. They will either sing or sit down. When they look at you, give them the stern "daddy look" (I've got two girls so I'm good at it :D ).

Usually works. Anything more than that, goes to the management.
