Hi everyone. Many thanks for allowing me to join your forum. As a short intro., in addition to the one I posted in the Newbie area, I'm the wrong side of 50 (you choose which side that is ) love to sing on Karaoke and have a computer based system. My question isn't primarily for my benefit but for a young couple who have just started their own system up and have a Friday and Saturday night gig in a pub I frequent when I'm not working myself. Sadly, they were persuaded to get an RSQ Neo+G player that was claimed to be all singing and dancing but has proven not to be so. Their main issue is that they have a good collection of standard CDG discs and they were assured it was reasonably easy to rip and convert them to Neo+G format, to save them carrying lots of discs around. As one of my listed interests is computers, I offered to look into it for them and found that RSQ have a utility on their website to do exactly the job, required. I downloaded it and tried it out but am having a ridiculous time with it and hope one or more of the board users can help me understand what I'm doing wrong. As some of you are probably aware, the program is called RMC and appears to be a simple grid type entry system and DVD convertor utility. However, as I'm sure you'll appreciate, typing in 500 titles, 500 singers names, 500 CDG file location and 500 MP3 locations is not something to be entertained lightly and I was pleased to see they had a facility to IMPORT the details from a comma deliminated (.CSV) file. After all this waffle, I finally get to the nub of the problem. If I manually enter details and fire up the DVD generating engine, all is O.K., I get 4 .DAT files and 1 .IFO file. This, I assume is what should happen. However, if I import a list and everything showing O.K. on the program screen, when I now ask the program to generate a DVD build, I get an immediate error message about a .C3G fault but the DVD seems to compile O.K. EXCEPT, the .IFO file is missing!!! When I tried the DVD in their Neo+G player (an HK-2000U BTW), it shows 4 folders but they can't be entered. O.K. after all that, does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong???? Apart from trying to work with Neo+G, of course I look forward to any insight you guys (and Gals), might have. TIA, Sandy |

Nobody tries to work with Neo+G for gigging karaoke. Having seen it in action, it is a stupid way to operate. Slow and time-consuming, it is also error-prone. My service club ditched their Neo+G players and went computer-based. It was bad enough operating with two Neo+G players. I can't imagine running a gig with only one. I recommend telling them to just carry the disks or better yet, go computer-based. You can fit everything on a laptop and be much, much, happier. WRT the software, the likelihood of finding help here is slim. I don't know anyone here who uses Neo+G -- we haven't seen mention of it for 2 years. Were they hosed by some outfit like "Karaoke Kandy Store"? They were the ones who ripped off my service club. We are now left with two pieces of equipment worth $900.00 out of the $5000.00 they spent. |

Hi Mickey, thanks for reply. as it isn't my own system and the youngsters are just starting out, I doubt they will have much money to spare to upgrade as soon as this. Apart from which, I suspect the pub they are playing in is probably paying them less than their last KJ(s). So, sadly, I'd like to be able to give them a boost to get them going by converting some of their discs. I can convert to DVD karaoke but it isn't very pretty and looks amatuerish. As for Ne0+G, it is still being pushed this side of the pond by various companies who know that beginners will buy virtually anything they think will save them a few pounds on the way to building up a good system. I've emailed RSQ but as expected, had no reply, as yet. Anyway, once again, thank you for your reply to my query. Someone on the board might have used this software and might still come back to me. Cheers, Sandy |

The most likely one to know is sWOOOP or whatever he styles himself. He seems knowledgeable on CDGfix and some other conversion-type packages. But seriously, we just don't have Neo+G users here any more. They can carry their disks as an interim solution, is what I am saying. Finding the song on the disk is going to be just as easy as finding the number and getting the Neo+G player to find it. Bottom line, I am suggesting that Neo+G is nothing like a long-term solution, and any effort you put into it is a waste of time. But of course you can do what you want. In any case, good luck, and welcome! |

Okaaaay! Emarrassing post as it turns out the problem was of my own making! When I burn a disc, be it CD+G, MP3+G or whatever, since I don't like to button twiddle when I have my kit set up, I tend to normalise the volume levelsof tracks on discs. To do this, I use a freeware utility called MP3Gain, that happily levels out all the MP3's in a folder to whatever setting you want. Tracks from the 60's and 70's tend to be much lower in volume than more recent stuff, so levelling everything out stops sudden volume changes between songs. Anyway, unknown to me, MP3Gain had left a couple of orphan files in my CDG folder and when I generated the Import text file, they caused the error message. Duh!!!! Long story short, removing the orphan files seems to have sorted the problem with the Neo DVD, so looking forward to finding out if it plays. Thanks again, Mickey for your advice. Sandy |

I remember years ago a friend of mine had an arcade gaming system using Neo Geo(I assume the basis is the same). You could pick from hundreds of arcade games. It was always breaking down. He ended up smashing it with a hammer in a fit of frustration |
