Does dimmer switches (for lights) effect the equipment? I am set up in the dining area of a restaurant, and it is very brightly lit, but the lights do have dimmer switches. My question is if I have the owner dim the lights to soften the effect in the room, make it more of a lounge look, will this effect the power going to my equipment in any way? If so, what can I do? I know these are probably stupid questions, bet if I were a genius, I wouldn't have to ask.

They just dim the lights and dont affect the power but they use an SCR switch and it has been know to put out a low interference.

Much depends on how the power is wired. In most cases, especially in commercial buildings, the lighting will be on separate circuits from the wall outlets. If this is the case you should be totally fine. If the dimmer control is on the same circuit as the outlet you're plugged into, there is a chance that the dimmer could cause some interference. If your outlet is on the same circuit as their lights, I would try looking for a different outlet anyway.

I haven't had any problem with any type of interference noise since I've been there, so I guess I'll be fine, thanks for the info.

in the bar i do most of my shows I setup right next to the dimmers for most of the bar so I can control the lights. I dim them when i start up dj music before the show, and start to bring them up a few songs before im done to give people the idea that its time to go.

As long as you don't plug your equipment into the dimmer outlet... no.
