Currently using Peavey PR15P which have served well, buying speakers to brgin setting up second rig and am wondering if the $400 extra on a pair of 515s is worth the money. I have only used the 270w Peaveys up to volume level 2, the 315s claim 280w cs the 515s 450w but will I need it? The 515s are a pound lighter!

There is the thought that $400 would go nicely towards nearly half of that new 42" LCD from Costco for the living room!!

I'm not planning on carrying a sub around so I think the Mackie SRM450v2 is a little light on the bass side. I figure a pair of 515s for $1350 or 315s for $950! I don't really need the mixing capability of the 515s unless I start renting them out for stand alone PA systems... fairly unlikely.

What are your thoughts.

More power is always good IMO. You have the additional headroom that is sometimes needed & will sound a lot clearer/fuller at regular listening levels without ear fatigue. I heard the 515's the other day & they actually sound pretty nice, you will probably want to put them in the main rig over the PR's once you get them.
