Is "Hemhorrage" by Fuel an acceptable choice to perform at karaoke, or is it too heavy / not well-known enough?

whenever I perform (and this is not karaoke) I try to judge what is most appealing to the demographic. Therefore my playlist of songs is going to be different for a restaurant gig than for a bar gig. The ultimate in contrast was last month where one saturday I did a wedding where the wedding dance song was metallica's nothing else matters and the following week I did a golden wedding anniversary where they wanted songs like home on the range

The short answer is there is no short answer...learn to guage what will work at different times of the night. If you are wanting to please others than yourself then make sure you have several different songs in several genres and you can look at singing them at different times of the evening as the bar warms up or gets mellow :)

Sing what you want. If the KJ lets you sing it it isn't too anything for the crowd. <shrug>

Depends on the club & crowd, this is very popular in my shows! Just sing it if you feel the need!

I did "Hemorrhage" at a college bar and it went over well. I can think of a few places I've been where it wouldn't have, but as mentioned, who cares? Sing whatever you want.

Quite the contrary it is very well-known to the under 30 crowd and the guys will probably sing the chorus along with you. They do in my room.

If you want response, look the room's demographic over first as stated by others. But if you like the song just do it.

edit: If I remember right the song was performed a couple of years ago on American Idol. It's more mainstream than you might think.

I think the a large portion of songs if not a majority of songs that get sung at my karaoke are not "well known" to the general population only those interested in indie music.

LOL....I'm sure that is the exact response that he is going for. Now if you want the LADIES to sing along with you, go for something in more upbeat mainstream rock, country or classic rock. Most gals don't particularly like anything bordering on the new rock/hard rock genre. Also, if you want a hoochie, try some rap..lol.

It all depends on how it's sung and the delivery. I've got a couple of guys who specialize in this style who do just fine with the ladies. ;)

"Hemhorrage" LMAO I hear this song sung almost every gig. One of my regulars loves it. My crowd is a mix of all ages and songs from "Bodies" by Drownig Pool to
"The Way We Were" by Barbara Streisand.

The song is well received, but I don't think it is probably everyones cup of tea. :D I say go for it.

At our show, half the gals in their SING the harder rock just as much as the guys - Pantera, Marilyn Manson, ALice In Chains, Metallica, etc.

In our room we all sing country oldies/doo wop for the first part of the evening. Then when the owner and his wife go to bed, someone will dare to do a Nickelback or Stone Temple Pilots or Godsmack and the response is rather favorable and even a relief to many. Sometimes it seems people sing what they think everyone else wants to hear and it becomes self perpetuating. So why not experiment with breaking the mold? You've got nothing to lose but 4 minutes.

But what also can be lost is the momentum of the show. When two pop rock songs in a row hypes the crowd, and singer number 3 sing a slow country song. Or when usually myself sings the new songs I've got from the UK sites, some songs are a swing and a miss.
