Looking for a good way to copy, old scratched up CDs for a friend of mine. She says her new dual deck DJ CD player will play them, but in the computer they won't rip. These are old audio CDs that she has bought over the last 25 years and some are probably impossible to find anymore. I want to help her out, she has been very nice to me and helped me out getting gigs. Thanks |

Try loading them to Itunes, saving them somewhere and then burning them. This worked for me. |

When I have a scratched disc, I take it to the local Mom and Pop Video rental place. The one by me will polish them for $3. After doing this, I have been able to make a good copy about 3 times now. Don't take it to Blockbuster or Hollywood video. It has to be a small Mom and Pop place, they will try to fix any type of disc. I learned this from my nephew who had his video games fixed there. What program is she trying to rip them with? MTU Microstudio is pretty good in reading scratched discs even with players that aren't 'cdg' compatible. Have her download the demo & try it. It will only go up to 30 or 60 seconds, but she should be able to tell if it will work or not. |

Thanks Lonman. After seeing that gizmo, I think if I was disc based I'd own one. It might be worth buying. I'm going to show her the link and see what she thinks. |

The shack has a disc cleaner kit. Wipe from the inside out across the tracks and get all the film off. Bad scratches will scramble the graphics or sound at spots and then you can try pro resurfacing. If you are lucky you can eliminate all of them. |

Believe it or not, there is a cheaper alternative to fixing lightly scratched discs, banana peels. I read about this online somewhere and I tried it with lightly scratched disc and it did help. I kid you not. Here is what you do. First take the banana peel and use the inside to rub it lightly the surface of the disc. Then take the outside of the peel and rub it vigorously on the surface of the disc for a minute or so. Take a clean non abrasive towel and wipe off any excess and play. Give this a try and see if it works. Worth a try and worst case, you can just wipe clean and it won't hurt the discs. |

For light to medium scratches... I use CDGFix Super. Simply repair the commands and burn a new disc. Works like a charm for me. Kind Regards, sw00000p |
