I'm about ready to buy a brand new 20" flat panel monitor for $115. I don't want to have to depend on the venue to supply a tv to display my lyrics to the audience. I chose this size as it will fit in my gator and I can either have it on the back side of my monitor stand or I could place it elsewhere.
My question is: I have a splitter vga cable. If I put both monitors on my stand, I should be able to run from my laptop to the two monitors and display on both correct? If not, I will look towards buying a tv instead.

That will work fine. The VGA to RCA converters I use actually come with a VGA splitter cable so you can connect the box for a TV output and still use a VGA monitor if you want to. I tested it successfully but I never actually used it for a show.
