My wife and I went to one of our favorite shows that we don't get to go to very often. (It is almost an hour from our home.) It was a total blast. All the people there we have met over the past four years singing karaoke, the regulars in that part of Cincinnati. What a bunch of great people. Friendly, funny, entertaining, great attitudes. Everyone complimenting each other when they do well. Clapping for singers good and bad. We have two or three different karaoke crowds we see nowadays, and we thoroughly enjoy ourselves. Some are becoming pretty close friends too. Karaoke people are good people. ![]() |

I plan on developing that culture at my new gig. If they don't clap, I'll take an article of clothing off each time! That will get some singers standing ovations! |

Something tells me they were more of the 30+ group than 20something NO OFFENESE MADE TO ANYONE just a question. Depends on the show. At one of my shows, that I help, we have two crowds. A 9-11 crowd and a 11-??? crowd ( we are a private club and can run over ). The later one is younger, and are great people. Of course these are club members, but a lot of them joined the club because of karaoke, like I did. The show I was talking about is mostly older people with a few young ones. My other show is all ages, from 21-80. At the table I sit at, the ages run from 29-75, with my wife and I being in the middle of that range. My point is that no matter the age range, I think that karaoke regulars are great people. |

It has always seemed to me that to even attend karaoke you need a bit of tolerance and a sense of humor so there is usually a good proportion of fun, nice people. |

It's weird here, I figured people who went to karaoke just went 'cuz they either just like to belt tunes out, want to get out of the house, or clubbing wasn't their scene. But the nightclub here decided to try and like steal people from karaoke night (which is a weekday, nightclub is usually only open weekends here) and I actually went over to the club to see what was going on and there was more people at karaoke, and I saw people leaving the club to go to karaoke. Which was cool, 'cuz I hate hearing the same people do the same songs each week, at least I change mine >_< |

In the year and a half since I walked into the karaoke nuthouse ![]() It doesn't bother me if folks want to do the same things every week, but it would bore the piss out of me if I did that. ![]() For instance, I also like the local live music scene in my area, and I spent most of the last 2 days at an outdoor festival. I know the members of one of the bands, so I hung with them, and they said about one of the others on the bill, "they play all kinds of weird stuff that nobody knows. You'll like them." And they were right; I did -- but I fail to see how "Higher Ground" by Stevie Wonder, John Lennon's "Working Class Hero" and "Blitzkrieg Bop" by the Ramones are weird. ![]() |
