Hi Everyone

I have been hunting for an Averkey with the 'selectable area zoom' function in Sydney for the last 3 months.

The following units are available via online sellers in Australia:
1. Averkey I-Micro
2. Averkey 100 Pro

Unfortunately the customer service guys on the phone at these sellers' offices have no idea what the product is, and I cannot find any user manuals online which answer my questions.

These are my questions:
1. I MUST be able to select the area on my screen that will be projected on to the customers screens. I think this is called selectable area zoom. Which of these units has this function? This is so I can fidget around on my laptop, but all the customer will see on their screen is the Lyrics screen.
2. Which is a better unit?
3. Are there cheaper options which do the same thing? Shipping from the US to Sydney Australia is generally about $50!!!
4. Where in Sydney Australia might I be able to demo one of these units before I buy?

Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Vic in Sydney

Why? What would that have to do with karaoke?

Th standard way is using a dual video card. Then you have the desktop display on your monitor and put graphics only on the singers screen. What computer are you using? If it's a laptop chances are it has dual video.

The Laptop is an ACER TRAVELMATE 4000, 2GB RAM, 260 GB Hard Drive

The reason I would like to do this is so, I will only be displaying the LYRICS Screen out on the External Customers Screens, while I am free to use the rest of my laptop screen to add singers/ songs on the fly while someone is singing.

I think I might have read that my laptop might have Dual Display Capabilities, but I wouldn't have a clue how to set this up? Does this enable me to set it up so only the lyrics window is projected to the external TV?

Thanks

Vic in Sydney

Yes it has s-video out. Right click on the desktop->properties->settings tab. There will be 2 displays 1&2.. Arrow over and see if it's active (some you have to boot up with a
n extrernal monitor attached. Click on the box extend my windows desktop onto this monitor. The start bar and icons will not be on this display. Any window can be dragged to this monitor.

You might need to get a s-video to comp or RCA video depending upon what your monitor takes Usually they are RCA.

Yes, that is what you want to do. It is what every host here does. And it doesn't require a $150.00 scan converter.

You want to Google "Extended Desktop". Typically it is Ctrl-Alt-F12 on a keypad, or go to properties by right-clicking the blank desktop. Find your S-Video connector and plug it to a TV -- lots of times you need to have it connected for it to be found by the software. Once that is done, select "Extend your desktop" or "Multiple Independent Displays" or whatever your software calls it. Set the desktop to the Notebook and the secondary to the TV. Voila.

Would this explanation apply to the lyrics window in Normal SAX AND DOTTYS ZIP PLAYER?

Not talking about Show Hoster, just your traditional ZIP PLAYER

Thanks all Vic
