Howdy from Ruidoso, New Mexico.

I am registered to compete in the "Over 50 (years of age) Male category in this year's "Talent Quest" held in Laughlin Nevada, 20-27 September.

I would love to hear from those of you who have competed at "Talent Quest" and what you enjoyed most about the competition.

Any tips? or "lessons learned"?

I was the female pop winner in 2003..



I posted 3 posts that start "KARAOKE CONTESTS" then different subjects...alot of what I'm saying there comes from my experiences at contests like Talentquest and others like it.


You'll love the people- plan on bringing a good address book to keep your new friends contact info!


Stay out of the caboose lounge at night..too smokey and you'll have a tough time singing the next day -especially if you're in the morning competition.


Get not just a good song- but a good performance ready- these people come PREPARED. See the posts I mentioned earlier for more details.


They also do good videos of the performances- budget so that you can at least get your own...you'll love having them later- trust me!


Other than that - plan on having a BLAST...it is SO much fun! Best of luck!
