Howdy from Ruidoso, New Mexico. I am registered to compete in the "Over 50 (years of age) Male category in this year's "Talent Quest" held in Laughlin Nevada, 20-27 September. I would love to hear from those of you who have competed at "Talent Quest" and what you enjoyed most about the competition. Any tips? or "lessons learned"? Let me hear from yall, please? I was the female pop winner in 2003.. I posted 3 posts that start "KARAOKE CONTESTS" then different subjects...alot of what I'm saying there comes from my experiences at contests like Talentquest and others like it. You'll love the people- plan on bringing a good address book to keep your new friends contact info! Stay out of the caboose lounge at night..too smokey and you'll have a tough time singing the next day -especially if you're in the morning competition. Get not just a good song- but a good performance ready- these people come PREPARED. See the posts I mentioned earlier for more details. They also do good videos of the performances- budget so that you can at least get your own...you'll love having them later- trust me! Other than that - plan on having a BLAST...it is SO much fun!
