Hi guys, its just a thought but…
I install windows on systems at work because customers machines have crashed, been killed by a virus or whatever.
Many customers could do it themselves if they could get hold of the windows disk.
XP Home, Pro and Vista OEM. ( others if required )
I’m sure some of you have had that problem.
I would be happy to mail copies to one person.
That person could then copy them and mail them to someone else.

What do you recon…

If systems has CoA from MS, copying the OS disc itself is not illegal. However, for most laptop systems, they come with restore disc just for that reason. If they bought their desktop system from companies like Dell or HP, etc., they should have restore disc as well.

Here is the sticky about the OS license. When you buy a system from a company, you do not own the OS that comes with it. It is actually "rented". So, if you think you can take the CoA and transfer to another system, it actually is illegal. That's why they attach the CoA certificate on the system, not on the OS disc.

Like eben says...
The important bit is the COA.
Really the recovery discs should be a free advertised download from the Manu's.
After all it is not a lot of use without the COA or the particular system it's for.
Yes I know you can delete stuff and change drivers.
MS are getting on top of it.
Recovery partitions... Well they often get wiped to recover disc space.

Ghost won't work different hardware will kill that image...you could use ShadowProtect because it will do a hardware independent restore. MS is serious about the COA's and could care less about the os copies...

I don't have the space to host it Vicky.
Unless someone here has a site and would not mind hosting it you would need to pm me a mailing address.
The downside is that you would then be obliged to mail a copy to someone who wants it off you, and so on.
Not such a big downside.
I know you are happy to help others.

Any hero willing to host ???

I can also include a drivers DVD with DPINST from MS.
Yes it's all legal.

You could make it an iso image and drop it on an ftp site for download :)

Before I do anything, I would need approval from the regular posters on this site.
I know they can get very nervous about things.
It is after all their forum.
