This is strange, and I can't figure it out, and I'm worried that something has gone wrong with a circuit in my board.

I went to plug the headphones into my board last night they didn't work. More alarming than that, I noticed that I had no level meter indicator lights!

Now, with the exception of the above, everything works and sounds fine.

Furthermore, if I hit the PFL buttons on my active channels the lights come up and the headphones do work. Obviously, this doesn't help me for my purposes because I need the lights and the headphone to reflect post fader use.

The previous night everything was fine, but the next night when I started up it didn't work. I thought perhaps I've hit a button, but I can't for the life of me figure out what I might have hit...

I have a very simple setup, using mic channels 1 - 3, and stereo input channels 13/14. I use the xlr stereo out, and AUX 2 for my monitor. That's it.

Am I just missing something, or do I have a problem?? Lonman, what do ya think?

Is the switch marked "PRE" on the channel in the UP position? If you want to send the POST fader signal to the AUX it needs to be UP, if it's in the down position it will send the "PRE" fade signal to the AUX. Also remember your headphone jack is going to hear whatever the monitor send hears.

Yeah, pre is in the up position.

Monitor button is on stereo, not group.

Level Meter
This LED meter displays the level of the signal selected by
the MONITOR switch D, 2TR IN switch E and PFL
switch. The “0” segment corresponds to the nominal output
level. The PEAK indicator lights red when the output
reaches the clipping level.

I don't have your board I have an Allen Heath, but I know my lights only show you whats being assigned to them by the PFL switch.

I've been using this board for months. The signal meter works post fader... the lights are lower. I was messing with those switches in every position last night, and couldn't get the headphones to work, or the lights to work. Very frustrating.

Ok, I just dug out my old yamaha mg12/4fx. (very closely related to what you have) It does indeed show signal with or without the PFL depressed. I fed it a signal into the 9/10 stereo channel via the RCA jacks. I then twisted all the knobs and played with every switch and the only way I could get it to loose signal to the meters (Not using the PFL) was to either press the stereo/group switch in or have the "2trk IN" switch depressed. In all other modes I showed signal. I hope maybe this might help a little.

I think you have a PFL button pressed somewhere and you didn't notice it, or else there is a broken switch for one of them. When you PFL something it replaces what is on the LED meter and the signal going to the headphone jacks with whatever is on the PFL bus. Hunt for the switch, if that isn't it, have the mixer looked at by a local repair shop, who will give you an extra set of eyes before they open it up just in case you missed something.

On my consoles, you have to assign the mix to the LED meters / headphone jack. If you don't, they just display nothing unless there is signal on the PFL bus. For example, my SL3242FX can monitor the main mix, groups, or 2-track input. The AUXes all have AFL/PFL buttons.

I have the exact same desk and London Live helped me set up and use it. I have only ever had the led on pfl...but I must admit I have probs with my headphones...nearly threw out a pair of koss over ear cos they were only feeding thru one channel. I just happened to need to hear something thru my laptop at home one day and they worked fine...so I have no idea why I cant get them to work properly on my board

I have that same mixer.

Mine is in my van right now, but I would look at the switches under your monitor/phones level control. I think you can change that behavior with those.

Also, if you have *any* of the PFL switches depressed, you will lose the overall signal going to that bus.

Ding, ding, ding! Just went out and looked at the board, and channel 6's PFL switch was depressed! Now I haven't tried it out yet, but that's got to be it. Ill let you know after tonight.

Curious Koyote. What are you using for a sound card? I have the lexicon alpha and that's what I plug my headphones into.

Have you ruled out the headphones?......I read all the posts....maybe that's what Vicki was alluding to......sorry if I missed something...
