Anyone know anything about these kind of players? I was thinking it would be a god way to allow people to take recordings of themselves home from a special night out or you could email the recording to them.

Was thinking along the lines of people out for their anniversaries, birthdays, special dates etc. where they maybe wanted to sing either alone or with someone as a bit of a keepsake.

Any thoguhts?

just buy a cd recorder and hook it up to a line out on your board. Or hook up a laptop to the line out, and recorder that way.

For the past two years I have used Cool edit pro to record everything from the desk.
That works well also. You can keep an eye on your levels as well that way.

Thanks for the inmformation so far folks. I have one thing to say though. I have only ever sang using my machine and have never recorded anything or connected it up to my desktop.

So could someone explain to me in the most simplest terms possible how you go about recording withought using one of the machines I mentioned in the first post. As well as any particular equipment I may need. All I currently have is my machine, disks , a wireless mic and two wired mics and some very basic speakers. So no doubt I will need to buy some equiuipment but I just don't know what.

I am guessing proper speakers, a mixer and possibly cables etc so any advice for a complete novice would be very much appreciated or even a nod towards a post that deals with this already. I do at some point want to invest in a full kit so that I can go out working and am currently looking at laptops as it seems they are the way to go instead of the machines.

Are you using a mixer for your mics & music? If you have a separate laptop, you can just use that & download Audacity - free recording software. Hook the tape out of the mixer to the line in on the computer & record!
