Do you play Pioneer karaoke laser discs at your show?

We have 41 laser discs we use in our show but not all are specifically Pioneer Brand.

Talk about a weird story! I got a few of those disks years ago. I didn't have a player, but I held onto them, and a few years later I was at a show, and the KJ had PI songs in his songbook. I asked him where he got them, and he told me he converted them from his old pioneer player when he went to computer.

I asked him if he could still do it... the answer was yes, and he converted them to mp3+G files for me.

So yes, I use a few. lol

Can't convert video to mp3g. They have to be converted to a movie format like wmv, mpg (which you might be mistaken for mp3g) or the likes.

I still use laserdiscs in my show. Have most of the original Pioneer set 1-46, 201-208 & a couple of the 300 series. Then I also have a bunch of older lasers like NuTech, Tip Top & U-Best that I bought in like 93-94 before cdg's really took off over here. These had some decent versions & are sometimes the preferred choice.

I have a lot of the big Pioneers double-sided LDs, a ton of the small Pioneer "singles," and a smattering of other brands. I use them quite often, and still buy up LDs when I see a good deal on Ebay.
Call me a dinosaur, but I like the videos! I have a couple of big-screens hooked up for the audience, they get a kick of the cheesy vids. (It seems several videos were shot in the NYC area so we're always having audience members holler when they see a shot of the Twin Towers.)

Also, I would say that the quality of Pioneer's music was usually very, very good.

The biggest drawback for me with LDs is the weight issue. Those things are heavier than lead, and hauling crates of them from show to show can break your back!

I would tend to disagree here. The Pioneer music was well produced (yes had their own clinkers as well) & much better than i'd bet 75% of anything that is out today. I know people that can't stand the videos but prefer the music to more 'top' cdg brands.
I did try to phase out the videos a while back & got reamed by our singers that they wanted the versions they were used to. So I kept them in the active library. I will replace a version with a cdg version (provided it's on another disc that I bought by chance) if the laser isn't used often or at all.

That doesn't sound like much of a disagreement! :D

I like the Pioneer music, although I sometimes have a little problem with volume, like they were under-recorded sometimes. I just give them a little boost.

I'm also pretty pleased with the durability of the LDs. Mine have been hauled all over the place and not handled terribly well, but I've had no problems with wear or scratching. Some of these LDs have to be 20+ years old.

Well, you can if you take the time to import the audio portion and create your own graphic  It takes forever but it can be done

This Freeware will late you create your graphic :D
