Toshiba Laptop deal! Good or Bad?

Post subject:  Toshiba Laptop deal! Good or Bad?
I am looking at a laptop deal at Office Depot. It is an Toshiba 505 and can be found at this website for $430. Can anyone tell me if it has a good sound card and would work well with compuhost. In the details it only says it has window compatibal sound. Looks like a good deal for 3G and 320 HD. I don't want to buy the wrong computer just trying to save a few bucks. The deal will end soon so check it out and let me know what you think, Thanks

Looks OK to me. As to the sound, you won't be able to tell how good it is until you try it. I am guessing it will be at least acceptable -- you can add an external USB card later if you wish.

You will either need to use a VGA lyrics display or get one of these:

for your lyrics screen.

I checked the spec and on the audio it said windows compatible audio but nothing else. I checked Toshiba's web site and it mentioned nothing on the audio chip. They actually mention Realtek networking chip but nothing on audio. My thinking is that they are using some cheap Chinese audio chip on this.

It doesn't mean it's not good but my suggestion is to get a good external USB sound card with this. I think you will have less problems with it. Too bad this doesn't have PCExpress slot.
