I'm looking at purchasing some Yamaha speakers and wondered if anyone has heard anything good or bad or anyone who uses them. The models I'm looking at are the Yamaha S115IV (which are a bit heavy but have a lot of power) vs Yamaha S15E (lighter model w/less power)... Curious to know what you'all think! |

S115IV has better components & sound. You get what you pay for. Speakers & amps shouldn't be skimped on. |

I agree totally with Lon.. There are several KJ's including myself who use them.. I have also Spec'd them for a few KJ's here on KS for thier own Personal systems who have asked me what to use for a small club system for a room of 200 persons or less.. Personally I like to use them as floor and side fill monitors for my singers, But I Also personally use them in my rehersal studio for my own fill and floor monitor mix along with my in-ear mix. Also they are easily equalized from a mackie mixer. My personal mackie is a VLZ-1402, otherwise I have Yahama MG series mixers in my units. |

I use the S1151V's and I think they sound great.... I actually have 4 of them and for larger venues use all four which drops to a 4ohm load. The weight at 60lbs/EA isn't a problem for me.... although it is nice when I have help getting them up on the speaker stands vs. putting them up myself. |

BJ, I have a four year old set of 115IV's. Mine weigh 88 pounds each. They still sound as crisp as when I bought them, But I have had to unbend the screens a few times from wear and tear of loading/unloading them every week. |

You may want to re-weight BJC, the Yamahas (even the older series III) never weighed more than 62 pounds - this is from Yamahas own specs on all their speakers. If you bought them used, it's possible someone stuck in some different components, but a 20 pound discrepency between yours & factory specs is pretty odd. |

I have a set of Yamaha 115IVs and they are great for the money. Got them for $230 each. My local store matched the web price. I brought an add print out. They sound great, excellent bass with warm clean sound. But you are right about them being heavy. Will be 50 soon and try to get others to carry them. I believe there around 65#s. |
