In order to shorten the time between songs I have connected both of my RSQ players VIDEO to a A/B switch with the audio going to my Yamaha Ch9/10 and Ch11/12 mixer.
The RSQ players are different models, with different remotes but apparently some of the remote buttons have unintended consequences (i.e turns volume up on player #1 and pauses play on player #2) Using the buttons on the player avoids this problem.
However, I have noticed that several songs played but did not display any lyrics. While this does happen once in great while with these players, 4 times in one evening seemed excessive and very irritating.
If anyone can share their experience with similar problems or solutions it would be appreciated. It doesn't seem like the A/B switch should affect things in any way, but ...

could be a loose connection (I had an older yellow video cable that gave me fits until I replaced it) or even a bad a/b switch itself, or funky connections.
You don't say which RSQ players you're using...

I would agree with possible bad cable/connection or the switch itself. I used to go through A/B switches like every 6 months.

The players are RSQ E500N and NK2000U(USB).
The switch is new and is actually A/B/C. I am using Channels A&C. The RSQ logo displays on the monitors so there is a video signal coming from the player(s), just no lyrics are loading. Cables are all good and should be ok. Wondering if signal might be back feeding through the switch to other player and causing the problem. Just a thought.

Never had that problem, I use Pinoeer & JVC players together - never an issue. Once the switch is selected, it's supposed to disable/disconnect internally the other switches so if there is a backfeed issue, it goes back to a defective switch.

I'll try purchasing another (different mfg) splitter and see if that makes any difference.
Thanks

First of all, if each remote works for the disignated player 100%. What you need to do is find something solid, like a piece of paper or vynil to block the front of the player that you don't want to change the settings on. Cover the player that you want to block and you should be fine.
I use 2 RSQ 222's, I went with them because I thought that if a player had a problem the second would be an automatic backup. If the trays lock up on a triple tray, I would be in trouble.
I always turn off the counters, so they are not a distraction to the singer and on occasion they have gotten out of sync for whatever reason. The same remote works for both players, so when I have had a problem, I cover the one I don't want to change to keep it at the same setting.

Is it absolutely necessary to use the remotes? Some years ago I tried running two CAVs 202Gs and had the same problem so I operated each of them manually as a result. Now they're strictly house units.

If the graphics show flawlessly without the A/B switch for each player
Than it could only be the switch itself ......

Sometimes the music plays but the screen saver mode displays (the RSQ logo bouncing around the screen) instead of lyrics. I'll see how things go tomorrow night.
As for the remotes, I can use buttons on players (although they are harder to locate until I get used them). I think I have to use remote for some features on each of the players (NEO discs, USB, and step up/down). Maybe instead of stacking players I can place them side by side. I'll experiment with that (at home).
Thanks for all the replies!

Last night both players worked flawlessly. All lyrics displayed and the switch worked fine...Hmmm gremlins I guess. Maybe using the remotes last week messed something up. Used only the buttons on the players last night.

the only way I'd use remotes on two sep machines is if they were totally different. I'd be two worried about interferrance.
Keep us posted... this is a new one for me, and I'm curious how this pans out!

Ok. Had some time to experiment and discovered a few things with the equipment I am using.
1. must use remotes for some features on the RSQ players (volume, EQ, USB, etc). Once setup buttons on player can get me through the evening.
2. Both players remotes interfere with one another but I have not recorded which function is executed when an offending button is pressed (ie. play on remote for player #1 advances track on player #2)
3. Vocal tracks to not display sometimes when a song is played. This turns out to be the player(s) and happens at random. Duplicated the results without the use of A/B switch. Powering player off/on usually corrects this. Maybe player(s) need(s) to be cleaned?
