Just out of curiousity - I'm always hearing people complain about the owners they work for. On the forum we tend to post the problems we're having, so it sounds as if all bar owners are difficult. Is this your experience? I have a decent relationship with the bar owner now, but that has taken yrs to build. I've had my ups and downs with him, but for the most part I'm happy with how things are going now. |

I put down I detest the owner, but that's because I really do hate working for my Thursday night venue and it's fresh in my mind. He's always telling me to turn it down, especially if he doesn't like the song or style of music. I never do, though, . He also is constantly telling me to make more announcements. I HATE it! I make more than enough announcements throughout the night. He really has only 3 things that he wants to let the custies know. Sushi in the restaurant, drink specials, and Karaoke every Thursday. I mean how many times can you make the same 3 announcements to the same crowd in a night without them looking at you funny? My Sunday night gig is awesome! The owner has become a good friend and we get along great. He's all for new ideas and promotions and trying them out. He even gave me a raise without me asking for it because of the good job I do. Go figure! I LOVE my Sunday gig! |

I like my current owner and really get along with any owers I've hosted at numerous times. The minute I don't like the owner/management I quit. Had one guy in the past on a slow night look at me and ask --well what can you do about your pay ? I said what do you mean ? He said look at the bar it's dead. I say .."yeah that stuff happens" He tells me he wants to pay me HALF of the agreed 4 hour fee ..although as dead as it was ..he kept me there 4 hours. I told him give me a $ 100 ( out of $150 he only wanted to pay $75) The second I got the $100 in my hand I said --ok I quit.. Packed up and left |

Love my current owners. And the feeling is mutual. One has employed me for three years one night a week. The other has had me three nights a week for the past year (since she opened). I've been through a lot of poor owners to get to this point, though. It doesn't take long to figure out who the good businesspeople are. |

Love the owner. She's awesome! Been out partying with her, over to her house for get togethers/games. She came camping with us a few times. Never once a problem! |

I currently work for 5 different owner/managers per week and each has their likes and dis-likes. It acually amazes me how much younger bar/rest. managers are than they used to be. For the most part I am pretty happy with them but just recently replaced my Monday night gig because the owner/manager was impossible to deal with. I work too hard to deal with indifference on a consistant basis. |

I deal with 4 different bars. One owner is an "absentee". I almost never see or talk to him, even though I've known him for many years. Never any problems there. One is there all the time, and isn't what you would call "karaoke friendly". He considers it a necessary evil, but no real problems in the 2+ years I've been there. One is a super nice woman who used to be a bartender at my main gig. She's always loved me, and insisted I work at her bar as soon as it opened. Very karaoke friendly and easy to work with. Been there 2+ years, and she says she's never letting me leave My main gig is where I'm at three nights a week. The owner is bipolar, so half the time she loves me and the other half she drives me nuts. Been there 7+ years. |
