I have a freind in Sherwood Oregon and she is looking for a place close to her that has Karaoke on Saturday nights. Anyone know of any places fairly close? Sharon |

Isis we just had some relation up from Greenville. I have a distant relative doing karaoke in Terrell. A bar tender I worked with for a year or 2 is in Tyler. |

That is cool. DId you know Terrell is the location of the State Mental Institution? I hope your relative hasn't escaped... I think the nearest Karaoke to Sherwood, OR is Canby, OR (home of several people here) And it looks like it is Denny's.. Seriously singing at Denny's kind of is weird to me. But the bright side is that you don't have go far for breakfast... |

Sharon, the Canby Denny's has most every place beat-hands down- for song selection and sound.... the only downfall with this place is the size of the venue. They have absolutely nothing to offer BUT karaoke and drinks. (well, the full restaurant of course) But there's no stage, no pool tables, no darts... if they're wanting to sit at a table and sing and visit, it's a great spot. Nights are hit or miss as to the crowd... some saturday nights it's a good sized crowd but you get to sing a lot. Other nights you can walk in and literally not find a seat and the rotation is huge. Odie would argue with me about suggesting Denny's to someone... we like it, because, well... we've went there for years and everyone knows us. To newcomers, in my opinion, it may seem too small and it doesn't have a lot to offer but good, fun singing. (IF it's not an overly crowded night) Nice people & great KJ's though. The only other place in town is the opposite- huge bar, pool tables & darts, huge dance floor... but the sound system sux. And every other weekend is live music instead of karaoke. I would never recommend that place to anyone. (until they get someone in there who knows how to run sound) I recently went to a new place in Estacada called The Safari Lounge- huge bar, they have a stage, dance floor, pool tables and the place was hopping all night- matter of fact, they got shut down at 1:00 because of a huge bar fight that left blood on the floor. KJ was a cool guy, and the system was one of the best I've heard around, but.... I couldn't find ANY newer songs in the book and was reallllyyyy glad I had brought some of my own cd's. (the ONLY Miranda Lambert song they had was "me and charlie talking"... ) I've went to a few in Oregon City- the best I've found there is at the Rivershore hotel, but I opted not to go there often, there's nothing to do but sing and drink, and it all seemed so mechanical- maybe it was the KJ they had, but it seemed there were just small groups of people here and there, and no "family" feeling to the place at all. There's another place there called "Allstars"... it was ran by the same Canby KJ group, but the sound system wasn't set up very well. (most of the bar the sound sucked, you had to be within a few tables of karaoke corner to really be involved in the music) I've never done karaoke in Sherwood. Wait- on second thought- yes, I have, with my niece once. Can't recall the name of the place, but it was a kind of hip-hop atmosphere with mostly brand-spankin' new 21 year olds all looking for a lay. I think my table were the only ones who even put up a country song all night. I'll try and recall the name of it (i'll google around) but who knows- that was about 4 years or so ago, and venues change. I've been to The Grove in Oregon City too, and to Tachos.... wouldn't recommend either place to anyone, based on environment/sound system alone. I'll scope out some online, but I can't give too much of a "personal" opinion on any up that way... I stay close to home, and rarely head anywhere else for karaoke. Well, that long story told ya a whole lotta nothing, didn't it? Lmao |

Denny's is small but I haven't seen a real crowded night there all summer really and I'm there WAY too often for karaoke. It's been fairly slow overall but it is capable of getting crowded on any given night. Like Charmin said, if darts, pool or dancing is important to your friend then I would try and find some place else. Otherwise, it's fine. They do have a friendly crowd and KJ and a good sound system for that room. |
