I have a couple of mixers that don't have any aux send or return jacks like my trusty EMX512 and an old American Audio Qspand DJ mixer I just got. Is there a way to plug ANY external vocal effects processors onto these type of mixers? The only way I've found so far is to plug my Alesis Multimix 8 mixer into a channel on these other mixers, but that defeats the purpose. Is there a good vocal effects that can just plug into a mic channel? |

Don't know about the American Audio amp, but the Yamaha has an Effect out jack. Connect that to the external efx & run the output of the effects into an open channel making sure NOT to turn the effects up on that returned channel otherwise you will get a nasty feedback! |

Ok, what about a regular DJ style mixer that doesn't have any aux or effects jacks? Is there any way to go into a regular mic channel? Is there an effects unit that works that way? I only want the effects on the vocal mic, no effects on the music. |

Another option would be getting a tube mic preamp and the EFX unit between it and the mixer. You could use this on any of your mixers. |

Just be sure if you do this you reconfigure your Effects Unit to mix in the dry signal with the effects signal on the output. Most reverb units aren't set this way by default and the result would be you'd only get the reverb, not the actual vocal itself. |

You could get something designed to go inline between the mic & mixer but would only effect 1 mic only, the one plugged into it. {as mentioned above} http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/pr ... sku=150177 This is just an example, there are several others. |

I would just buy a new mixer. You can get a Behringer that will probably last a few years for a few hundred bucks, or something nice for a bit more. If you aren't making enough off your karaoke show to spend some money on equipment, change what you are doing. |

Ok, well, I guess I'll just dump those mixers on craig's list. I love my Alesis Multimix 8 and I will either get another one for a bakup or eventually get the Soundcraft EFX8 for my main mixer and keep the Alesis for a backup. The vocal effects on the Alesis are very good and I'm satisfied with them. I just figured there might be a simple and inexpensive way to just plug in decent vocal effects. |

Again the Yamaha can add an external effect processor that will work with all channels. The dj mixer is the one you should drop. |
