| Post subject: | Laptop system multiple monitor question |
I have a second monitor for the singers to use and would like to transmit video to tv's, not vga monitors, in the bars I'm at to really use all that compuhost has to offer. Any suggestions on how I might do this? |

What is your singers monitor video input? If it's S-Video type, you can run it through a splitter them run the rest to the bar tv's. If it's VGA, you would need to split that, then convert to the bar tv's input. They do make wireless video units, they must be in a straight line of sight & high enough to get over all interference from crowds walking in front of them. |

Depending on how you want to wire it, you have a couple options. I can't speak specifically about using it on Compuhost, since I use Siglos Pro, but I can tell you what hardware I would use. First of all, you need a scan converter, which you may already use. A general scan converter takes the VGA out of your PC (most have a passthrough as well to go to your primary singer's monitor), and also have the standard S-Video, Video, Composite, and sometimes other outputs. They usually run about $35 - over $200. An example of a relatively cheap one is here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6815260011 Ok, so with something like this, you now have the signal going to both your primary singer monitor, and you can also take it elsewhere. Here are where your choices come in. - If you want to run to all TVs using RF cable (like regular cable TV), you would run the video output on your scan converter into an RF modulator. From the modulator, you can tap into the main splitter for the facility, and feed all the TVs the video signal. Usually these are switchable for channel 3 or 4. These are relatively inexpensive, usually $20 - $50. Here is an example from the Shack: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index ... I like the Monoprice unit: http://tinyurl.com/monopit Cheap, plus it outputs VGA, composite, and S-Video all. That allows me to use a cheap VGA for the singer monitor and then also pipe a signal to another TV. |
