best of luck! Even my paid program works only some of the time... like ten times out of 400 songs! |

I use Goldwave 5.14 to remove vocals. First make a devocalized wave track then reload the original track and make a basspass track set to around 200 or 300 and save it also as a wave. then use audacity to quick mix the 2 wave files and that's about as good as you'll get. Most times it sounds like crap but once in a while you'll end up with a decent track. Don't hold your breath though  .

I have posted this tip on at least three other threads in the past. The main vocal is recorded "exactly same" on both left and right channel. What the vocal removal does is basically removes whatever is same on both left and right channels within vocal frequencies. You will lose some mid range after you do the conversion so you get the mids back after the conversion. Also, use non compressed sound format like WAV not MP3. MP3 compresses each channel separately so the ultimate final left and right channel vocal may not match so you will get more artifact of the main vocal using the MP3, stick to non compressed sound file for better results. |
