I am using the EMX at one of my venues also, and was experiencing feedback. You can read the thread called "Feedback Problems" on this forum and you will be able to see some suggestions there. My problem had more to do with the size, acoustics, and set up of the venue than it had to do with the mixer. What kind of room are you in? Where are your speakers and mics placed in relation to one another? Feedback can come from all sorts of things. Your monitor's settings can be adjusted. Go ahead and read that thread and then let us know more. I tried their suggestions (moving the speaker, turning the lows down, etc. ) and our feedback problem has been eliminated. I'm sure we can help you too. That mixer is great, I think. |

Yes, those would be my suggestions too. Also, try cutting certain frequencies a bit on the graphic equalizer. Also, try cutting the low frequencies on the mic channel, i.e. the "Low" knob on the channels the mics are plugged into. I also cut the mid on the music channel a little bit, and boost it a bit on the microphone. This allows you to hear the vocals intelligibly without having too many mids for feedback. |

I found too much compression on the mic also creates feedback. |

Too much compression won't cause feedback, but will be the indirect cause of it as the signal is compressed, you turn the fader/gains up to compensate & if there is no signal - or the signal hasn't reached the threshold to start the compression to kick in, it returns to a normal (bypassed if you will) signal and since you now have the mics turned up - feedback occurs. |

I'm also using the same mixer without any problems. As stated perfectly above -your feedback problems are mostly caused by your room size, speaker and monitor placement. |

Hello there I use the EMX512SC with a monitor every weekend and haven't had any feedback issues to date. If your feedback issue only arises when you are using a monitor, I would 1. point the monitor away from the microphone 2. Reduce levels (on your powered monitor and mixer) 3. Increase slowly until you have the level you need. 4. If you still have feedback, try cutting specific frequencies on your mixers monitor EQ. BUT YOU KNEW THAT ALREADY I love my EMX! Sometimes I wish I bought the desk... *sigh* |
