$260 for 500 color posters now at Kinkos. OK I want a color printer. I dont need duplex or high speed. What is the best low cost printer?. What are the standard toners? Can you get them cheaper on Ebay like monochrome toner cartridges?

Whattabout this one? ebay

The most expensive part of any printer is the print media. This unit has 4 different cartridges. Check out to price to replace them. I went the Xerox dry ink route. Nothing involving printing is cheap except the unit. I bought a replacement black ink jet cartridge today and it was $40. Last one was $34.

The good news is it comes in a new greener package. It's not actually any greener it just gives you that impression. What a crock. :angel:

Local shop here in Hollywierd, has a HP color laser, new in box, $49.00

(No toner at that price.)

I like this one It can print 8.5 X 48" banner. With the cost of advertising now I figure hanging posters is a good alternative.

Avoid Oki or other brands if you can. Stick with HP or Samsung. You will like it better in the long run. I have heard mixed review on Lexmark so depends on the model that is another way to go. I have an old Konica Minolta I picked up for about $500 two or so years ago. They work great but too bulky and too noisy. You should be able to pick up a Samsung or HP low end, without network connection for about $250 or less. However, I would serious think about getting a duplex option on it. It will save a lot of time and headache later.

Typical toner will run you about $60-$100 range. However, they last much longer than inkjet printers. Also, be careful if you buy third party toners. They are not always cleaned up properly and the toner doesn't work as well as the brand named ones.

Eben I really like the Brother 4040 but it's a bit more than I want to spend. I do like the high yield toners with 4000 sheets but they run about $200 on Ebay..
