hello sammy, i was wondering if anyone could tell me about a good and inexpensive karaoke software that is reliable i would use for home use. such as one that could reduce the vocal sound from exsisting music, etc... i saw a few when i searched for karaoke software but don't know which is the best for it's price. i'm new to this sort of thing so if u could let me know where to start that would be nice.....thanks.... |

hi karaokenewbie Wellcome, and I think I know what you want : A2 Player is a multimedia player that you may want to look at. Its a freeware and have a vocal remover. Like most vocal remover softwares it is NOT an alterative to CDG It is good for practice at home; I use them only if I cant find the karaoke version of the song. The good thing about the software is that you can adjust the amount of vocal to be remove: the bad part is that the more you remove the vocal, the more the music get removed. |

There is a program Called Microstudio it's put out by a company called Micro Technology Unlimted it cost about $39.00 if you have a cdg reading CD-Rom You can even play the disk you get at the Karaoke store. Dave |

mtu.com has a vocal-removing program (vogone i believe). i suspect the results will vary. for home use, might just want to get a player that has that feature built in and do it on the fly. |

goldwave is another good vocal remover, and I THINK it's free.... the problem is, most recorded tracks are recorded in a way where it's HARD to remove the vocal, and not make the rest of the audio file sound like crap! |

The problem with vocal removal is that it uses wave form cancellation. If tthe singer used reverb, or echo in his vocals, it is almost impossible to completely remove the vocals. There is a program being developed for the PC that does not use wave form cancellation. When it has been finished it will be a break through that even the most expensive hardware based vocal removers will not be able to compete with. |

If you are using A2 Media Player Pro V2.30 (a2player.cdmi.net), there is an alternative. Since a new fine-tune 18-bands equalizer is implemented in the new version which can be applied to all audio files (including CD in digital playback mode, but excluding midi and Kar), you can change the settings in the equalizer to strengthen or weaken different frequency bands. With its Vocal Removal function together, I can get some good result. But I can't save different equalizer settings for different audio files. As far as I know, nearly all Vocal Removal functions try to reduce or eliminate center panned vocals from stereo songs. So how well vocal is to be removed depends on how the song is recorded. It can't be perfect ! |
