For those who complain about threads they don't care for, Is anyone forcing you to read them; or any other threads you don't like?
I study many of the posts here just because I never know when I'm going to discover a better idea. And personally, I find it entertaining lunchtime reading. I even read through the occasional bellyache. If I find it doesn’t suit me, just like television, I can always change the channel.
So why bother inserting your distain when you can just skip opening the objectionable thread(s) and continue on to those you do like?
Wait…, I know…, it’s an open forum. And just like those who opt to post something you may find unpleasant, you opt to rebut. Well, in that case, it appears to be equal access to all then doesn’t it?
But that’s just how I perceive it. Your mileage may vary.

I agree if it's just a flat out negative comment, if it's a legitimate debate on an issue, then that's different.

Looks like they complained enough to have them removed! !
I think it's funny.... However, I too will miss the lunchtime entertainment!
No worries.... It is probably best....

I moved the topics discussing KIAA from the public forums.
It was becoming a bit ridiculous.
This forum is not owned or operated by KIAA.
The posts appeared to be an advertisement for the organization or at least an endorsement.

As a Businessman I appreciate all efforts to alleviate problems common to our profession which in effect acts with unfair
business practices. However with that in mind I post sometimes here as Cabaret Karaoke. I make enugh of a fool sometimes
and do not need help in that regard. Also a businessman I can not be a regular poster on a public forum that highlights or
showcases huge negatives in our profession. I never did believe in airing out dirty laundry in public. That is not the primary
purpose of this forum. I enjoy debates about how we can do better but as hosts we are ambassadors of the very thing that we
love and we have to somewhat present ourselves in a positive fashion.
My objection was of this nature. Potential customers surfing the net are not going to read post after post about dribble. They see
our company name, see or skim a few posts about some vigillante mob type organization and our names are associated with
this forever. They will go elsewhere. Which is sad because even though we disagree and argue about trivial things this forum
consists of some of the most dedicated and well informed hosts in the world. I have no doubt that almost any host here could
come to your city and thrive..It is not what we think of certain things it is the first impression surfers have.
I wish insanekj well and I hope he accomplishes some of the goals he has established. No disrespect but I do not want the
impression that Cabaret Karaoke is associated with or endorses the organizations that he does. I feel I should have that
choice. With that I hope you understand my motives and thank everybody for their participation and patience.
Regards,
Ollie Smith

Well as far as my posts, I had no intention of endorsing anything but combating piracy. If you closely analize my posts, you will see that I am constantly denying any affiliation other than being a KIAA member.
It seems that the lynch mob was after me from day one of the SC Lawsuit thread I posted in which you also chose to remove even after it was locked. ( I had requested that the thread be locked because of the ridiculous hi-jacking that was going on. )
Anyway as I mentioned above, I think the removals are funny & it is probably for the best.
I respect your home here PHILL & appreciate you letting me drop by. It's your home to keep & whatever you decide to do here is alright by me.

Okay there seems to be some confusion - many know this but some do not - so in order to clarify - I am posting again.
I do not own this site. I only assist in maintaining it. I am paid for the hosting and a small maintenance fee to make certain that the database is functional.
I do help out by upgrading accounts and moderating occassionally.
Actually, I am a Full-Time Real Estate Agent in Maryland, a part-time Fugitive Recovery Agent (aka Bounty Hunter) and I own a web development/hosting company.
This site is only one of hundreds that I manage.

What I have to say has nothing to do with why the posts were pulled.
You are newer to the forum, so probably don't realise piracy actually gets talked about to the point of nauseum on the site. It isn't that we don't want piracy to go away. Many many Kjs on this forum are constantly informing new Kjs to be legal and shun illegal practices. Anyone who appears illegal is shunned by the majority. So you are preaching to the chorus ! New info on law suits are posted on the forum all the time and ideas on fighting piracy. We are more informed than you give us credit for. Your posts for ideas on how to fight piracy have been discussed on the forum many many times.
You just got off on the wrong foot here. The majority here believe "Poop" is just out to make money and don't have our best interest at heart. Please I don't want to rehash that whole subject.
You have a strong conviction to fight piracy. That's awesome ! I don't have a problem with that. If you put a pirate out of business, I'm sure we'd all like to hear about it or an update on a lawsuit that actually worked.
You seem to have one objective though - fight piracy. We all are Kjs or singers with our main interest being in our shows. We are concentrated on trying to have the best shows and getting the most profit from it. We don't belong to a organization that fights piracy, so we are not interested in being detectives and policeman.
I'm just trying to shed some light on why you are receiving so many negative responses. I think you are taking on a noble cause and I wish you luck with that. But there is more to karaoke than piracy. If you have a love karaoke like we do why do you not talk about your show? You may connect more with others if you do.

Sorry I got off topic JR.
If it pertains to the discussion it is hard to avoid sometimes. Or if someone is trolling they have a way of pulling you into it. I try to make my point and be done with it. I try not to be pulled into a continuous battle knowing a troll lives for negative responses. (I'm not referring to anyone in particular)
I agree the best defense against a troll is to ignore them. Not everyone that is annoying is a troll though. It's actually easier for me to ignore an annoying poster than a troll because they don't constantly bait for a response.

There's that saying "Arguing on a message board....... Special Olympics......." Even though it usually is a meaningless discussion, many feel that they are important to put in their in and take a spotlight. The way to keep me off a thread is if there's 3+ paragraphs on each post. I don't have the time to read a book, just a couple of sentences.

I agree With some though you have to post your resume and explain your opinion three different ways be sure to cover all bases and be sure not to step on anybodies toes or.................Blah blah blah

I relate to a lot of that. I love to write, and think everyone is entitled to my opinion. This is the only forum I post in, and generally weigh in against the trolls. I've been struggling with my sound lately so my stress level is a bit up. I'll post about it on another thread.
