OK, so I purchased/downloaded songs from Select-a-track.com and want to use them at my regular gig. I need to burn them to disk in order to do so.

I normally use the karaoke system that the bar has already installed. It is a hard drive based system by Unify Karaoke. I can't add tracks to the hard drive inside the box. I'm gonna buy a cheap disk player and just play my new tracks off of it. I will just switch between the two players.

What programs do I have to choose from to use? Any recommendations or ones to avoid? Compatibility issues with certain cd burners?

Thanks!

MTU Microstudio is a good candidate. I have never had a problem with this one & works with most dvd burners.

Powerkaraoke also would be a decent choice.

There are others, but these two would be my top 2 choices.

I also like the Power Karaoke burner/ripper program Lonman mentioned above. Whatever database it uses for automatically figuring out track names is usually correct even with newly-released CDGs.

It uses Freedb and is usually correct if the person submitting the information has typed it in correctly. They rely on the general public to input the information and if you get some wiseguy inputting incorrectly it is a waste.

I don't know how I missed it but the other day I was testing out a few of the songs in my database when I found 15 that were not named what the song was. Sure enough when I looked at the disc (all the songs were on the same disc) the song names were right but not in the order that came up when I ripped the disc, soooooooo from here on out I will take more time (like it doesn't take enough time now) to match the rip against the disc to ensure the order and names are correct. I hate to think that I need to run through all of my songs to make sure they are correctly named as to what is really ripped. UGH!!!

All I'm saying is be careful when ripping and oh yea Power Karaoke is the way I go.

Either one of these programs does have the capability to burn from zip. files already on my PC right?

I'm really new to the CD+G file thing, so I'm double checking myself.

Nero also burns cdg files, just in case you have it

I've got Nero 7, so it looks like it doesn't support CD+G.. I will probably go with one of the ones from above

Nero 7 does support CDG! First you'll need to download MP3+G Toolz and convert the mp3+g files to bin and make sure to create a folder for each disk you wish to create, mp3+g toolz will create a cue sheet in each folder so all you'll need to do is double clic on it and Nero will get ready ready to burn the cdg files  Nero supports most drive but make sure to burn at low speed like 8x, this way you'll have a nicer graphic.
