Hey - someone else from Chicago!

I do both - regular karaoke bar work and private parties that can be either DJ, Karaoke or a combo of both. No offense intended, but I find karaoke to be less challenging (mainly because the music choices are already made), but often personally more fun as it allows for much more interaction. The karaoke/DJ events are nice with the variety. Fees are generally higher for DJ-only events I book, so it's great to have those scheduled. For equipment hauling and setup, DJ gigs win out (less gear, excluding lighting which can apply to either type of gig). So, I suppose I don't really have a favorite - both have their strengths.

BOTH

Ya can't just have one without the other especilly when ya charge $100.00 an hour on up.. the clubs and private parties want the total entertainment expierence.. it's not just about dj'ing or just karaoke anymore.. it's also value added services too.
