Hi,
I'm blind and I'm looking into becoming a KJ. I've tried Compuhost and it's somewhat user friendly with my screen reader, but not completely. Are there any software programs will show the lyrics on the screen that work with Winamp at all or is it really necessary to have a fancy program like Compuhost to be a successful KJ? Winamp is very user friendly for me, so that's why I was wondering. I like the fact that Compuhost has affects though and things like that. Even the interfase isn't so bad with my screen reader. Adding a song for me, is what's difficult. I added a couple and it was fine, but all of a sudden, I started having problems with it. I couldn't get songs to select anymore no matter what I tried. I was wondering too if with the demo it's only possible to add and play a certain number of song samples and maybe that was part of my problem? I've looked on their website and they don't seem to have much of an FAQ database. I was going to email them about this, but they have a code that you have to type in that does not have a sound file to listen to what the code is, so I couldn't email them. Sorry about all the questions and things.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer,
Dawnielle

If Winamp works well for you, you might consider using it for karaoke.
I can't speak to any real knowledge of the issues you face. I do know that you are unlikely to find anything to read karaoke lyrics, because those are graphical and not character based.

I think it would help if you could explain what you want the software to do idealy rather than what it is not doing with your current software. I'm not sure what a screen reader does (I assume it reads the text from the screen as a machine voice) but which reader is it, under what operating system and what do you want it to read? mckyj57 is correct CDG lyric files are not text but a series of 6X12 pixel blocks assigned to the screen as a sort of slow movie. Nothing is impossible.

Hi softy5310,
Welcome! Do a search (Here) for Winamp. Look for Knightshow's Posts.
IMO... Knightshow is a 'Wizard' with Winamp!
Kind Regards,
