Hi Just wondering if anyone who uses a Yamaha MG16-6fx or MG124CX can tell me how to add the internal Effect (reverb) to individual channels? E.G. reverb on channels 1 &2 but other channels clean? Have downloaded the manuals with a view to a future purchase but I can`t figure out how to achieve the above. Cheers Paul |

Without going into to much detail, just turn the knob marked "effect" up (try around the 12 O:Clock position to start) on the individual channels you want to have FX present and leave it off "0" on the individual channels you don't want fx to be present. This information is on page 19 of the MG16-6FX manual. (the individual channel effect knob is number seven in the diagram) This is the way it is done pretty much on all mixers. |

Hi London Big thanks for reply. Thats pretty much how its done on our current mixer - the knob is even marked reverb. However reading the PDF manual I think I must have confused myself as reading the text I thought the Effect knob was just just an output (Same as Aux1 & Aux2) and basically sent the signal out of the mixer Via the output No 7 on page 23 to be processed or whatever and then returned. The EFX (Aux2) controls on each individual channel affect the signal sent to the Aux2 (EFX) bus. That bus is fed both to the internal effects processor and to the EFX output jack. So adjusting those controls on the individual channels will affect both the output on that jack and the signal sent to the built-in effects. So you are not totally mistaken in your understanding. |

Hi Folks Thanks again for replies - Our current mixer is quite simple but not as flexible as the Yamaha units. The Yamaha terminolgy is slightly different and with 4 or 6 bus units it takes a little getting used to. Thanks again for the replies |

I believe Paulmo101 got the answer to his question. May i ask another? I Am considering replacing my mackie profx12 with a yamaha 166 because of compression effects. How good will it be at reducing my "screamers" i've been recently attracting? I am getting tired of riding the faders every other song. Thanks for any replies. -john |

If you are happy with the other aspects of your present mixer I would just add an external compressor. The Yamaha "one knob" approach is alright but it doesn't give you anywhere near the control of even an entry level external compressor.
