Just glancing through posts here and there seems to be a common denominator in all the posts that end up in nasty confrontations. It seems that there are people who read a post just until they find something they want to have a fit about ... Then they fire off a corresponding post ... without completely reading the entire post. We all know the assume rule (assume makes an axx out of u and me). I look forward to checking posts to see what positive contributions may have been made. However, I am now like one of Pavlov's dogs when I see certain names. I SKIP the entire post because there will be nothing that I find of value. I find myself getting ticked to the point of just closing out and leaving the room. Not why I, and probably not why MOST people, contribute to and read this forum. For those of you who seem to live to create conflict, can you find somewhere else to post for a while? We don't need devil's advocates in posts like Diafel's about the second rig. Fergawdsakes. Give us a break. Read the posts. Then read again. Then try NOT posting. |

Except make sure that you note that I'm not the cause of it. Unless, of course, I am. |

Kind of reminds of a cartoon I once saw. The wife is calling to her husband to leave the house to go somewhere and he calls back to her " Hold on honey, someone got something wrong on the internet! ) All of us are probably at one time or another guilty of seeing a post and thinking, "man that is so wrong", ( some more than others ) but the problem a lot of times is the way the message is delivered. No one likes to be corrected in a demeaning or condesending way whether it be about spelling or facts or whatever. There are a lot of things I read on here that are just opinions and I don't agree with but we should sometimes just agree to disagree and be polite while doing it. Don't be that internet ten foot tall know it all person that so many forums that I am on all have. Rudy. |

If I start a post or comment to a post that becomes nasty, I just stop posting AND reading it. So much good info gets thrown to the wayside over drama......and drama I do not like so into "ignore mode" I go. |

It's getting so bad here in some of the threads, that I'm starting to expect to be insulted for my opinion, or forcefully (cram down my throat style) why my opinion is wrong and someone else is definiately right. Yesterday, I even mistook someone's response to me to be derrogatory when he didn't mean it that way at all. Posters who continue to treat others in a disrespectful way should be dealt with by administration, so that others are not discouraged from contributing to the forum. Insightful contributions are the life of the forum and make this a wonderful resource to be a part of. It shouldn't have to be stressful or make anyone feel angry or insulted. |

By you're avatar, you're a redhead. I could never insult a redhead. I just worship them and let them break my heart. |

The responses here from oldtimers are not a direct response due to a particular post. It is a gut reaction from years of abuse from trolls and others. Real life and experinces from years ago also play a part in net chat rooms or forums. How many here have walked into an airport and have been spat upon by longhaired dirty freaks? Some words or attitudes cause flashbacks. An open forum will instill a lot of emotions and reactions. I belong to forums that have no limits and most here would be eaten alive after their first post. I however will object to hints or slanders upon others reputation or business. I will use a liberal phrase which I hate. I have zero tolerance for those that insult others integrity or professionalism. Successful businessmen do not engage in these tactics nor due they have to use mafia tactics or rely upon stretching vague laws to gain an advantage over competition. I do not play roles nor do I hide behind an avatar. Everybody here knows how I think. I am the type who can blow my stack and call you every name in the book. 5 minutes later we are hugging and laughing If you havnt leaned how to do this yet then I feel sorry for you and show patience for you to mature. As a KJ I am very open here but I never reveal personal traits. I Am A shepherd.. I Am Not A Judge But A Beacon..I Counsel And Tend My Flocks And Protect My Children...I Am A Wicca.. I Have Studied All religions And Reject None But Integrate Them Into My Spirituallity. I Am An Elder Who Understands And Live By The Laws That Governed From The Beginning And Will Govern At The End. I Do Not Believe In Man Made Corporal Punishment Or Laws I Believe In Karma. I Am Not A Christian But Know The Teachings Of Christ And Live Them To My Best. These Things I Rarely Share On The Internet But I Am Who I Am And I Know My God. And All I Ask Is You Find Self And Know YOUR God. |

well said karyoker! I pretty much feel the same as karyoker.. I used to talk alot on the forums.. these days though I talk when I'm stirred by emotion or see someone being wronged. I usually regret it anyways but sitting on my hands is easier said than done - I have the same issue with my mouth usually - quiet and observant until I see something I truly don't agree with & even then try to deal with it behind the scenes but if I get NO response on it or I get totally blown off, well yeah, I get madder and you're going to see it in the open then because more than likely I'm not the only one thinking that way. Some might consider me a troublemaker for that, because it DOES end up looking like I only post to the troublesome posts. I can't help that - it's not intentional. |

Foxe, Karaoker was a hard one to follow. I thaught the topic may die. Well done. I come here expecting to see confrontation now. I got beat up by Morgan once. I am waiting for her to reappear and do it again. I smetimes have trouble typing what I am thinking. Think we all do at times and that can be where the trouble starts. Now I really do have to think and re-think before I post. Anyway, well done Foxe. |

thank you for posting this Karen I have only been an occasional poster here on this forum over the past 6 months as I have grown weary of thread Hi-Jackers and Devil's Advocates. I have been a member here for quite some time but I have never seen the forum like this. I check back from time to time to see if things have improved, and I will make an occasional post if I feel I can add anything to a conversation but otherwise I remain silent. |

But- there are relatives in Denver Colorado that someday I may go visit again, and then maybe we can hop skip and jump! Hey - I traveled to Pueblo to see Melly before |

The chest thumping bravado some KJs present in this forum is largely absent from my musicians forums. It thew me off at first. I guess it's a personality trait that runs through some in this profession - along with a cutthroat attitude. Although I don't like it I've grown to accept it as part of what this forum is. It would be nice if it slowed down however. Maybe this thread of Karen's will help. |

Bill most of the agitation comes from singers who are addicted to karaoke. Their ego and addiction is evident in every thread and they will argue about trivial things for months. I doubt if they even host or have a system in their basement. I have dealed with them at shows for many years and have ways to shun them from our shows. It is always about what the KJ should do or have and the show has to be perfect or they will throw a fit. |

Good post Karen, I agree. The sniping of threads is one of the main reasons I would not ask for assistance here any more... and makes you hesitant to even log in and join in threads at all, I pretty much stick to the PM box and the song chain these days. The site is starting to lose it's sparkle because of that nonsense. Actually, Scott said it with more finesse than I did:) Quote: I have only been an occasional poster here on this forum over the past 6 months as I have grown weary of thread Hi-Jackers and Devil's Advocates.
