Hi, I am purchasing a sennheiser e835 to use with my Karaoke Mixer VocoPro DA-3050K. I need to buy a mic cable for my microphone but I am not sure which type I should buy, balanced or un-balanced . Any advices would be soo greatful. Thanks a lot!

Balanced cables help cut back on noise. That's about all. In the case of a Microphone cable, I would go with the balanced. It wont cost you a whole lot more.

Thanks a lot for your answer. The only concern I actually have is that what if my mixer doesn't take balanced ones?

Also, I have talked to a friend of mine and he said microphone without an on/off switch is actually better than the one with on/off switch due to better connection (ie: sen. e835 and the sen. e835s). What are your opinions. Thanks

Mics with a switch is just that - mics that have a switch. They are no better inside. Alot of karaoke companies like mics with switches so they can turn off the mics that aren't in use.
I do not like switches on the mics since I use the mute buttons on the mixer - i'll know if it's on or off from the board, not having it accidently turned off by a previous singer & the current one doesn't know to turn it on & starts singing & wonders why they can't hear themselves.
The mixer you are getting does not have balanced inputs just unbalanced 1/4" jacks, so it would be a waste to get balanced plugs.

Thanks a lot guys. So if the balanced one costs as much as the un-balanced one then I might as well get the balanced one. Would it effect anything (for performance wise) if I use balanced wire for my un-balanced mixer? Thanks

home rehersal use I can use balanced outputs (XLR female - from mic) to unbalanced inputs (1/4" male) (into machines) when just rehersing directly to home rehersal mixer/systems I really don't require a whole lot
to reherse at home.

But, in the rehersal studio and live shows, Karaoke events, and in recording sessions, It's imparative for me to hear EVERYTHING that happens note by note in the mix no matter if I'm running Video, KJ'ing, Singing or Mixing. All my connections must be proper and at the right gain levels. I'm extremely tough on other KJ's when I can't hear myself in a mix. or I hear a buzz from an unshielded mic.

Is there Balanced input (1/4" male) too? because that's what the sale rep. asked me if I wanted a balanced 1/4"male.

So i am guessing mic w/ switch and w/o switch wouldn't make any diff. in performance right!

If ya are hooking up microphones.. stick with the unit I discribed.

If it's outboard equipment or amplifiers, balanced 1/4" to XLR cables will do.

Yes there are balanced 1/4" plugs. These are called TRS (tip-ring sleeve) plugs. You can use them, but your mixer doesn't have balanced inputs so there will be no advantage/disadvantage to using them. You may still get a buzz or crackle when the mics are moved or other types of noises.

The mic switch is not going to make any difference in sound quality or connection other than you can turn the sound off at the mic.
