Hi all I use Winamp with a CDG plugin and I am wondering if theres a way to have two seperate Winamp decks running at the same time. The reason I want to do this is to be able to start one song, while the previous track is ending to reduce the gap between tracks. Can't stand the dead time in between when you have everyone listening to you. Ideally looking at 2 seperate winamp decks. They can either have their own independent playlists, or run off the same playlist as I will be selecting songs manually. Also, I love winamp because of its simplicity. Don't want to move to a different software at this stage. Any suggestions much appreciated. Thanks Vic in Sydney P.S. got another 50 dollar tip today woowooooooo!!! |

Yes there is. Under the Winamp preferences window check the Allow multiple instances block, this will allow you to run Winamp twice. I believe there is even a cross fade plug-in but I'm not sure how it works. OK now send me that $50 tip you got |

Also there are at least 2 or 3 different crossfade plugins for multiple instances of Winamp, I have tried them all and found them all somewhat lacking for what I was looking for, at least in my opinion, but they may do the job for you-so I would not want to discourage you from trying them out. (It may just be that I was expecting them to be more configurable than they are.) |

how do I open the second instance of winamp? Is it as simple of double clicking on the winamp icon twice or more complex? From what you're telling me, looks like what I'm asking for is doable. I know in my head how long it takes for one song to end and for the other to begin, so I will not be using crossfade. I will just be starting one file before the other ends completely. Thanks Vic in Sydney |

To open it twice first open it once and when that has loaded click on the icon again to open it for the second instance. |

How do you get the singers up that fast? Isn't the video from both instances going to want to be in the same place at the same time? |

Install Winamp.. Copy the winamp folder in program files. Paste on the c drive and rename the winamp exec file to winamp 2. search winamp plugins for cross faders Install try and choose the one that works for you. You now have 2 separate winamps which you can tailor and install plugins separately. You can actually repeat for 3 or more wnamps. When you get them setup open the winamp plugins folder and change the ini files to read only. |

Exweedfarmer I use my system partially for karaoke for the crowd. But a big part of my show is just me with a backing track and a guitar - this is the part that I really want to keep the continuity going. Hence the question I use S&D Karaoke Hoster for the crowd based karaoke. It would be fabulous if my crowd could be lined up in order of their turn by the side of the stage though . save me the irritation of having to call them up more than once and keep everyone waiting. I hate dead air. Thanks for all the responses. I will try this out tonight. P.S. Why are the chinese always more generous with their tips? |
