Hi Folks Just wondering if anyone uses KAM power amps? I`ve been looking at : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... %26otn%3D1 For my sons PA System in comparison with the QSC GX5. They are similar spec but the best price I can find for the GX5 is £319 - the Kam was relisted after not selling at £199 - so I think I could get a KAM for about £200. Is the GX5 worth £100 More? Kam seem to be a workhorse. I use one for my sub. I do dot think it can be compared to QSC though. Different league. |

If you compare the specs on each amp, the QSC is checked for distortion across it's entire audio range, running at 99% of it's rated power, using 4 and 8 ohm loads. You're given a THD for each load rating. The KAM plops out a figure of 0.1% THD, which is pretty much meaningless until you know what freqs, how much power, and what loads were used in the test. The QSC is the cleaner amp, and is likely the more powerful of the two. I'd pay the extra money. |

Hi Folks Big thanks for the replies - the QSC seems to come out on top and it looks like the extra £100 would be well spent. Maybe look at the KAM stuff when he needs a bass amp? Cheers Paul |
