With or without a kiosk and how do you run your rotation, sing one bring one or big wheel?

(edited next day when sober)
How would you want to get your song list into the system?

there is a program that I believe is freeware that uses the mainlist database of KJPro 1.5, not sure if it will work with 2.0. http://kjhelper.aesound.com/
you gotta remember to rotaate the list though but you can put as many requests that they give you and it will keep them in order. I used it when I was disc based.

If you are just replacing the sign up sheet with a laptop - just use a simple database or even notepad if you don't need the song lists or anything.

I have to disagree. Drunks will click but they won't type. If you're doing the typing, you're still going to want to know who is comming up and what song they want to sing, so the song list with the disk number is going to have to be in there somewhere.

I'm not argueing for the sake of argueing, I was rather planning to write something like this for a while now and so I'm thinking about the parameter list. That is, what the app should do and how.

In fact, I just started writing it and you may get it here www.freewebs.com/sacksonuts free and postage paid. Scroll all the way down past the semi-naked lady pictures to the bottom of the page to find the link. This is what the OP described as far as I can tell. It's "sing one-bring one" rotation and it just keeps track of the names.

Just curious -- Why not go completely to computer for the whole show?
It seems more work to have to load songs manually and then log in your requests on a seperate laptop. Once you've gone to computer its all don in one step and there are plenty of inexpensive progrqams out there now.

I used my own rotation program for years with discs, wasn't any harder really, actually still do - prefer it over the ones in the hosting programs.

I have my own little program for rotation using disks too but I have to agree that a full blown hosting progam would be better. Writing this new little rotator I can see that without a data base of your songs it's going to be pretty useless you run your show stone cold sober (yuck!).

The hardware for our rotation program costs maybe 25 cents over 6-12 months (depends on how long the ink lasts).
