Interesting how this would pan out.
Because he owns the disk, he theoreticly can legally download it's contents and use those being his back-up copy, leaving the disc sealed.
Am I right ?

Considering that SBI or Sunfly make all 8 songs that are on the disk and they can be legally bought on Tricerasoft for a total of 9.60 if you have bought a discount card.
The sound choice versions better be REALLY good.
I dont spend over $44 a song just to improve the quality. Most of the SBI tracks I have heard are certainly good enough.

I don't care what disclaimer you put on it when you distribute songs on the internet like that you are breaking the law.

Isn't that a discontinued disc that Lonnie talks about in many of his past posts, If that is so then the value is more for rarity and as a collector item.

Why so much? What is the story? Is this like an error baseball card?

They released the disc before getting the answer from the publishers, when they (the publishers - or more to the point Don Henley & Glenn Frey which absolutely CAN'T STAND karaoke) said they wouldn't grant karaoke rights, SC had to pull the discs from production & the pipeline. I luckily got mine for $15 new in '94. It was only released for less than a year.

I know that Zoom has done their own Eagles disc as well as some other Don Henley songs, but they are out in the UK, and the copyright laws are different.
What I can't believe is that someone actually was willing to pay $335 for SC 8125 at this late stage in the game. With the availability of the Eagles songs on both Zoom and Legends discs, it really makes that disc worthless now.... except maybe as a collector's item (kept in its seal and all... but why???).

I understand what you're saying Cueball, I'm plenty content with my Zoom versions -- but some folks really are that devoted to having that quality is all I can guess - even if the difference is relatively small.
Our friend Matt was that way although he got a better deal on his.... I think it brought him a lot of joy to own it. Maybe it stood for something for him?

It is much better than the Backstage Eagles disc that was released around the same time, although Get Over It is not a bad version. At the time (early-mid 90's), these were pretty much the only versions available. There was also a Standing Ovation disc & a 12 set of songs on an off brand laser disc (which I also have - versions pretty much suck though) as well. Legends (made by Sunfly) which I particularly do not care for & Zoom (good quality) came out with their discs much later in the 90's & like stated they are licensed in the UK - presumably so anyway. I still use my 8125 for those particular selections though. And use the other manus for all the others.

I've seen that said before and I don't understand how it can be. Both these manus have versions of the same songs, but the backing tracks and the lyrics layout are noticably different.
I tried to get licencing to produce 'single artist' discs in the UK. I was told that Legends do not licence their discs, but as they were bought in from overseas, there was nothing that could be done about them. I was also told not to waste my time asking for licencing to produce single artist discs because the chances were usually 0. I'm still baffled as to how other licenced UK manus can do it when I was told it was not possible and how come the copyright agencies here knowingly allow retailers to sell unlicenced discs?
Its a can of worms I don't really want to get into. Partly why I gave up on the idea.

As far as I'm aware, Legends were a branch of Sunfly but Legends were based and registered in the US so came under US karaoke laws.
As regards to Zoom and Sunfly producing all artist discs the karaoke laws in the UK changed about 4 years ago and you are now no longer able to produce a disc with just 1 artist.
Originally you could produce a 1 artist disc providing that the same song writer didn't write all the tracks. Think it was upto 60% of the tracks.
So any discs made before this change are still allowed to be manufactured and sold
Now you can only produce a disc with upto 6 songs by the same artist. (I think that's the figure although it's been a while since I have read my UK karaoke contract.) which is why Zoom produce discs with 2 to 3 artists on.
As for the High School Musical discs that they made I believe they actually didn't register these discs through MCPS in the UK but with authorities in the US so they could put all the tracks on one disc.
I know this may sound confusing but believe me if you saw the huge contract you get when you want to make karaoke discs you'd understand why.

Hey Gnome,
I got your disc with This Is How It Feels - Inspiral Carpets on it, along with one of the others. I was really happy that you tried to make those more eccentric tracks available!

I figure that there is at least a decent chance that the buyer already has a summons to appear in court on one of Sound Choices hunts for illeagal karaoke, and they are trying to make it so all the songs they had were legal.

Well if you're going to sell LOADED HARDRIVES you need to have this disc on it becuase its so rare. I don't know what the buyer is doing it with it.
THere's not a KARAOKE TRACK out there that's worth that kind of money .....I could see it if the other manus didn't produce the tracks but as mentioned ---you can get them songs anywhere now for $2
