Who are the top 10 artists with the most number of songs that is available in karaoke format?
I would say Elvis top them all, but I can't figure out how many songs he has that is in karaoke format; 300s?

I'd say, Elvis, Beatles, Sinatra, Neil Diamond, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, that's all I can think of right off the top of my head.

Elvis, Sinatra, Beatles. Then George Strait I would think. I don't think Neil Diamond rates, at least not for me. (Part of that might be the removal of many of his songs from SoundChoice and Chartbuster.)

In my library, Alan Jackson, Eric Clapton(!),Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Randy Travis, Alabama, Brooks & Dunn, Rolling Stones come along behind.

On the distaff side, my library has Reba, Cher, Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Celine Dion, Norah Jones, Martina McBride, Dixie Chicks, and LeAnn Rimes as having the most songs.

The Stones and Celine Dion take the title for male and female respectively -- most songs without hardly anyone ever singing them. Or so it is at my shows, anyway.

For my list:Different songs

Elvis 115
Beatles 103
David Bowie 84
Sinatra 65

Probably over reperesened for Bowie, probably not #3 at many lists, but I bet Elvis and Beatles are usually #1 and 2 for many shows.

I just have a look at MMVE discs at KJPro db and there must be well over 80 and even taking into account dupes there must be 500 songs at the minimum. Elvis top them all.

In my collection, Elvis is still "the king." And it's primarily because there are so may duplications.... just about every manfacturer put out an Elvis disc.... all different but with tons of repeats....

Now, moving on to the next logical question:

Can you guess which letter of the alphabet do most song TITLES begin with?

wait for it....

Wait for it......

If you guessed the letter "A" you're wrong... it's the letter " I "....

ELIVIS is the KING in my books. 493 titles -some dupes. I read somewhere that in his lifetime he recorded 718 songs.

BEATLES comes next with 143 songs.

Sinatra -99 titles.

not sure about country- i removed a ton of that genre because it's rarely requested anymore. Newer country gets done once a week or so.

What about "Various"? This singer evidently only went by one name, but I've seen karaoke books that list loads of songs by Various. I've never figured out if Various were male or female, but I"ve sung a few of his/her songs.

Oh :?: :!: :o :!: :?:

Now that's a piece of news I've not heard before.

Would you mind elaborating a bit on this :?:

Or at least point me in the right direction please; so that I may research it further:?:

Being an avid fan, I find this interesting and mildly disturbing :(

I have to agree with the rest....

1. Elvis Presley
2. The Beatles
3. Frank Sinatra

After that, well, David Bowie has a lot out there between the American market and the UK market. I can't think of anything else that has a noticeably larger amount of Karaoke songs out there.

He apparently is no longer authorizing his songs to be sold for karaoke. You can't get them on a SoundChoice custom disk, just like you can't get the Eagles or songs written by Sugarland or Garth Brooks.

I don't know if this has to do with his membership in SESAC, where he is one of the major artists they use to try and enforce their licensing.

I've heard of him! Didn't he used to sing with the group "Standards"? I've got a lot of their stuff. lol

Post subject:  Re: Artist with the most number of karaoke songs?

It is kind of interesting that the singers Various, Traditional, and the mysterious group the Standards all kind of covered the same songs. Most of the songs are not all that new, like I've Been Working on the Railroad (I think it is from the 1800's), yet evidently these performers were able to make loads of money just covering folk songs and such, almost rivaling Elvis and the Beatles in their fame (although fame can be fleeting since nobody now knows who they are). Go figure! Can you imagine if any of them showed up at your karaoke show? Someone might sing a Bono song, and then they would get up and sing the Hokey Pokey and probably have everyone out on the dance floor!
