So, obviously costumes involved, but I'd like to give people some ideas about performers to dress as and sing as - Obviously Elvis for the guys but anyone else that is very obvious? And for females? I know '60s (Janis J., etc) but is there an obvious choice for a female of the '50s? I'm more familiar with '40s and '60s than '50s... MMhhh..... |

For 50's guys, Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Pat Boone, Dean Martin, Paul Anka, Ricky Nelson, Bing Crosby, Buddy Hollie, Fats Domino, Perry Como. 50's Females: Conny Francis, Doris Day, Patsy Cline, Debbie Reynolds, Loretta Lynn, Dinah Shore, and of course Marilyn Monroe. Not sure if people know what they looked like, but I guess they could "google" them. These are off the top of my head, I'm sure I could think of alot more, if needed. Srnitynow |

I think it will be "Marilyn and Elvis" night - who the heck would want to dress up like Doris Day? Marilyn opens up all sorts of great looks. Of course then I may have to hear too many versions of "Happy Birthday Mr. President" and "DIamonds are a Girl's Best Friend." |

Any "grease" type outfits could be almost any group from the 50's |

I'm thinking more along the lines of a friendly competition (I hate the word 'contest') and would like to designate two famous artists that are easily costumed - like Elvis, obviously, and MM....and have a few singers go head to head trying to convince the crowd that they are that artist. |

I was thinking poodle skirts when I read 50s 60s. How about a Fonzie costume jumping a shark? I like categories for costume contests myself. It breaks up trying to vote on one big group. Maybe best home made costume, best elvis (if there is alot), scariest, funniest etc... Just a suggestion. We actually do the big group thing. Aaaarg ! |
